What To Expect

Join our HANDS-ON cooking class in the heart of Bilbao where you will learn how to cook the most iconic dishes of Basque Country. You will cook 2-3 starters, 2 mains and dessert. The menu keeps changing depending on what is available in the market. Maximum 12 people per class to keep the classes unique, personalized and fun Open wine bar (we are part of Gastronomía Bilbao, the biggest and more complete wine bar of Bilbao)

Mikel was phenomenal. This is a much deeper experience than a typical cooking class. Through Mikel we dove into the rich world of Basque country food and wine, gaining insight into the region's top Michelin rated restaurants and chefs. The food was amazing, and the space is wonderful. I will almost certainly return the next time I find myself in Bilbao.

Mikel's lessons were very easy to understand and I learned some delicious recipes. The people I took lessons with were very friendly and had a great time.

Fun class with Mikel. Very experienced chef who is happy to share his knowledge. The wine and food were plentiful. We left very full. Got to cook everything from pintxos to fish stew to steak. Hands on class with a small group, so got to know everyone which contributed to the fun.

A really fun and immersive activity. The vibe was great, the chef was professional and friendly, the food was fantastic. I was a solo traveller and it was a relaxing yet energising and cosy experience, a good change of pace after sight-seeing and bustling bars.

Mikel was an excellent instructor and chef. We truly enjoyed our cooking class and the menu he selected for us was amazing. We would highly recommend this experience as a plus to your travels.

We had an amazing instructive and inclusive experience with Chef Mikel. We learned several new dishes that are local to the area which used local ingredients and paired beautifully with local wines and cider. I felt like my cooking skills greatly improved within the one session for many reasons. Chef Mikel was very friendly, knowledgeable, funny, and helpful, as he gave us a list of things to do and see in Bilbao while we are here. It felt like we made friends with him instantly! The cooking class organisers were kindly accommodating of our schedule, being able to put on the cooking class for just the two of us during an extremely busy week in the city. We came away certain that we will definitely try out the recipes at home using the techniques and method taught during the class. Overall, we would both highly recommend trying this experience. We came away extremely happy with lots to talk about and lots to go and do. You will not regret it:)

We loved this class. Our instructor has a ton of Michelin-star experience. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and engaging and we learned a lot of great techniques as well as some great cultural history behind the dishes we made. Highly recommend.

Wonderful cooking experience with Chef Mikel at Gastronomía Bilbao. He was warm, friendly, and gave us excellent instruction for a delicious menu of Basque specialties. A perfect mix of learning and enjoyment! Would recommend highly.
