It is even rare for Japanese people to learn how to write the Japanese letters (Kanji) by a certificated master calligrapher.
However, we want you to experience it casually and enjoy it!! You do not need to have any knowledge about it.
The place for workshop is in a Japanese restaurant, so you can feel Japanese atmosphere while the activity!!
The teacher (Sensei) is really friendly, so you can try calligraphy casually!!
We will make the model of letter before you start to write or anytime during the workshop. Also, if you do not know any Japanese words, you can ask us and we will translate to Japanese words!! We can even make your Japanese name too!!

What To Expect
Learn and experience the Japanese calligraphy, called “SHODO”!! You will be learnt under the expert eye of a certificated master calligraphe!! You will practice using the Japanese Brush for calligraphy to write... ・Your name (or nickname) in Japanese ・One Japanese word (or your favorite word) We want you to experience how the letters written in a Japanese traditional way and deepen your understaing of Japanese Caligraphy and our culture. One of your art will be displayed on the wall in the restaurant like an autograph if you do not mind. You can show off to your friend when you and your friends come to the restaurant!!

5.00Ayala was a great teacher. The workshop was for my daughter and me alone in the salt of a traditional restaurant and we had a great time. We learned to write our name and practiced a word we chose and then took with us as a memento. We had a great time. Besides, my daughter really enjoyed this activity.

5.00We had a such a nice time and our host was so kind, patient and helpful. This is a great way to get out of the sun or rain for a couple of hours and we enjoyed every minute of it. We get to take home a souvenir wooden sake box that we wrote our choice of calligraphy on. And we have so many papers to take home with our practice calligraphy on it. Maybe we will frame our best one! Great little neighborhood with restaurants.

5.00The teacher is experienced and knows how to get a lot from her pupils. I thoroughly enjoyed learning calligraphy. The experience was interesting. This takes place in a restaurant in it's off hours. If it seems a little quiet you're probably in the right spot.

5.00It was truly a wonderful experience. We got to learn the history of calligraphy, pitched by a really kind and patient person, in bonus in a flawless English ! Using ink and those big brushes was incredibly thrilling, and we were able to practice a lot before doing our last strokes on a beautiful board that we all took home as a perfect souvenir of this amazing time Truly an experience worth spending any money for !!
