Mount Rainier stands as an icon in the Washington landscape. Mount Rainier, also known as Tacoma, is the highest mountain of the Cascade Range of the Pacific Northwest, and the highest mountain in the state of Washington. Mount Rainier is an active volcano and has the most glaciated peak in the United States. It spawns five major rivers, and the top of the mountain is covered with snow all year round. When snow melts, water flows down in a large volume, and gives Rainier National Park the best waterfalls, vast lakes, and lush green forests. Summer (May to Oct) itinerary: Seattle → Mt. Rainier National Park → Longmire Museum (20 mins) → Christine Falls (10 mins) → Narada Falls (40 mins) → Paradise Visitor Center (120 mins) → Reflection Lake (10 mins) → Seattle Winter (Nov to April) itinerary: Seattle → Mt. Rainier National Park → Longmire Museum (60 mins) → Wonderland Trail (60 mins) → Seattle
Mount Rainier National Park
Mount Rainier is circled by the Wonderland Trail and is covered by several glaciers and snowfields totaling some 35 square miles. Carbon Glacier is the largest glacier by volume in the contiguous United States, while Emmons Glacier is the largest glacier in the area. About 1.8 million people visit Mount Rainier National Park each year. In addition, Mount Rainier is a popular peak for mountaineering with some 10,000 attempts per year with approximately 50% making it to the summit. Also, Mt. Rainier in WA is the tallest volcano of Mainland America, the 5th tallest mountain in the entire US territory. The mountain top is covered by snow all year round. When the snow melts, water flows down in large volume, creating beautiful waterfalls and vast lakes while also irrigating the forest land.

This trip was amazing, the tour guide we had was lovely and knowledgeable. The tour was small 12 of us all up, I feel a smaller group is better than a big one. The views on Mt Rainier were beautiful, would 100% go again if I could (from Australia 🦘🌏) I highly recommend this tour. Plus the sandwich that was supplied was really delicious 😋

I joined the Mt. Rainier day tour with 2CanGo on June 22, 2025, and it was a great experience. The guide Han was very helpful and responsive — she even sent me a photo of the bus when I couldn’t find it at first. The driver was also very friendly and made the journey comfortable. The scenery at Mt. Rainier was breathtaking, and the whole tour was well-organized. Highly recommend this small group experience!

Our tour guide was nice, offered to take photos of us, and tried to make sure we all had a great time. However, for the price we paid I expected more. Her accent made it a little difficult to understand at times and the microphone in the van didn't work. I've done guided tours before, and the guides always have inside knowledge about the tour, keep you engaged during the journey, play music etc., but this one didn't. This felt a little like a drop off and pick up type of tour. A heads up, for lunch we stopped at a Safeway supermarket with a budget of $10 per person for food. I've never had a tour company offer lunch this way. Would have been better to get a voucher so we can get hot, fresh food in the park cafe.

Great tour overall, especially if you have limited time and wish to visit Mt Rainier while staying in Seattle. Unexpectedly, our tour was actually bilingual in English and Chinese, but our guide did great switching between both to point out attractions and provide information about the park, and he was always happy to take our pictures. The tour starts out with a hotel pick up from various spots around downtown Seattle, and before reaching the park we stop at a Safeway, where we each got a $10 stipend to purchase lunch to eat in the park. Since it was a weekday, the entrance line to the park wasn't long at all, but our tour guide said on weekends it can be much longer with a significant wait - there was some traffic on the way in though as a result of road construction, but nothing too terrible. The tour stops at various scenic sites upon entering the park (Longmire Museum, which was closed unfortunately that day, Christine Falls, Narada Falls) and then we stop at Paradise for two hours for lunch and to hike around on your own. FYI, the trails at Paradise are snow covered until late in the summer even, but you can rent some gear if needed at the visitor center at Paradise. After an extended time at Paradise, our tour guide made a few additional stops for some scenic viewpoints and photo opportunities before leaving and heading back to Seattle for a drop off back in the city. All in all, overall a great day trip!

The trip includes lunch, a snack and a water bottle. Our tour guide, Chris, was courteous, on time, knowledgeable and funny. He knew all the great views and advised us to have hiking shoes .
