- The Kecak Dance, one of Bali’s most iconic performances, was developed in the 1930s by Balinese artist Wayan Limbak in collaboration with Walter Spies, a German painter and musician. Inspired by the sacred Sanghyang dance, which is performed to ward off negative spirits, they adapted the ritual into a dramatic storytelling dance based on the Ramayana epic. Unlike traditional Balinese dance, Kecak Dance does not use musical instruments; instead, it relies entirely on the synchronized chanting of a large male chorus, producing the famous "cak-cak-cak" sound

We had a great day out exploring some of the sights of the island with Mr Gede Ari. Ari met us at our hotel at the arranged time, nice smart well presented car, Refreshments on board - and a power bank, which i was very appreciative of as id forgotten to charge my phone overnight. 1st stop was the monkey forest, great to see the monkeys in the wild, clearly quite used to human interaction, have to watch out for the cheeky ones - one grabbed my sunglasses and threw them in the river, goodbye sunglasses!!! Next stop the paddy (rice) fields and terraces, fascinating to see how rice is grown on what is not much more than a cliff edge, there are zip wires, swings lots of activities should anyone want to partake, i was more interested in all the tropical plants there... stopped for lunch at D-Alas Warung, great food and a good place for us to watch the weather come in as it started thundering and the rain started. there. following lunch, we went to Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu temple, a beautiful temple, not over loaded with tourists! - you can do purification ceremony here. we set off to see a waterfall, but the rain became heavier and heavier, to the point of every street was a river, so we decided not to head there, and headed back to hotel, save the waterfall for another time! our drive and Guide - Ari, what a lovley guy, great english language skills, very good guide explaining many things, he is someone that is enjoyable to be with and has a great sense of humor, oh and he seems to know everybody in Bali!!!!! THANK YOU ARI!!!!

We had a great day with Prayoga to Uluwatu. He was more than attentive to all our questions and needs. He answered all of our questions and made sure we are happy at all times. He knew exactly when to give us some space to enjoy the moment and when to stay close to us and guide us through the crowds. We didn’t have to stand in any cues or worry about when and how to get to each place. We highly recommend this tour and we are so grateful to have spend this time with Prayoga.

We had a really great trip to Uluwatu! The tour was super well organized and organized. Our guide Prayoga was totally attentive and stopped with us on the way at an ice cream shop, showed us a small and quiet place on the beach of Uluwatu before we went to the temple and saw the Kecak dance at sunset. It was an incredibly great experience and we are really happy with the day and the tour! Thanks for Prayoga!! 🙌🏼

Gede was great! On time, knowledgeable and flexible given we’ve got three kids with us! We went to Padang Padang beach, the temple and saw the fire dance - he handled tickets and guided us. We then stopped for dinner at a western-friendly spot.

We were so glad we went with GAD tours, with Made our guide, to visit Uluwatu Temple. On top of planning a custom half day of beach and water sports activities for us (we're a family and wanted to squeeze in some fun adventures on that day), Made was an absolute asset for our visit. He navigated us through the HUGE crowds at the temple and took us to the right spots to get great views and photo opps. We probably would not have found our way to the sunset location for ideal photos without him. And lastly, he had his way of keeping the super aggressive monkeys at bay. While not the sole reason to book this tour, it definitely helps as we saw a number of visitors caught off guard and even getting their personal belongings snatched (glasses, sun glasses). All in all, an excellent day and tour. Incredibly comfortable and convenient as Made takes care of pick up, drop off, and everything in between. And since you're spending so much time with your guide, we find it's important to get along with them. Our kids loved their time with Made - he knew just how to make them laugh and stay engaged the whole time, which as parents know, isn't easy. Totally recommend GAD and Made for this Uluwatu tour and frankly, any tour with them!

We took this tour on the third day of our trip to Bali. Like some of the other tours we took with GAD, the guide, Made, helped us build a custom day, anchored around a visit to Uluwatu for a sunset visit. We started the day visiting the local water sports companies to get some fun and thrills as a family. Then, Made took us to Melasti Beach where we played on the shores and in the water before hitting up one of the beach clubs on the beach for a snack and rest. And then it was onto Uluwatu. We got there at golden hour, perfect timing. It was super crowded, but Made took us through the crowds to the right spots for photos. This site can feel intimidating due to just how jam packed it is with tourists, as well as the aggressive monkeys, but Made was always one step ahead of the crowds and monkeys, so we felt more safe than many other visitors. When the sunset finally arrived, he took us to the best spot to watch and take photos, which we probably wouldn't have found or known about. Finally, like the other tours, the service was door to door and comfortable. Made also gave us a chance to pickup some fast food on the way home to the hotel given how late it was (due to the typical crazy traffic), and was patient and kind about everything. Just like my review for the Ubud and Natural sights tour, I highly recommend Gede and Made as tour guides. They're truly pros, their service is amazing, and they're so personable, making it ideal for a group of friends or family like us - there's a lot of time spent driving to sites in Bali, so you want to have a friendly and personable guide. Highly recommend GAD and the team here!

Wayans knowledge of the local area was incredibly useful for both the experiences and the transport, as he avoided the otherwise commonplace gridlock traffic and cut the travel times greatly. With more time to enjoy the beaches and food, it was a huge positive for the trip.
