What To Expect

Great time with Shiho who is a great teacher. She explains the origin of calligraphy very well and showed me how to write the words I wanted. Quiet, peaceful moment to dive into Japanese art....to do again because 1 hour is too short!!

I had a great experience today at this private course that teaches us the basics of calligraphy. Great place, the equipment is given to us and we leave with our work at the end. A very soothing and magical moment with Sowa, very patient and pedagogue. Thank you very much!

Sowa sensei is so friendly, helpful, informative and made the experience wonderful and easy. It is definitely different from any calligraphy and one of a kind. More zen like. We get to practice before we do our final work. So it’s really doable for anyone. I highly recommend this.

The Japanese kanji class exceeded my expectations. The instructor explained each character clearly and connected them to real-life examples. I appreciated the step-by-step approach, starting from basic radicals and gradually building more complex kanji. The class exercises were practical and helped me memorize stroke order. Learning through reading and writing practice was enjoyable. The teacher’s feedback was detailed and encouraging. Even difficult kanji became easier to understand. I liked the balance between homework and in-class discussion. Overall, this class improved my confidence and reading skills. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to master kanji properly.

This was a wonderful introduction to the art of Japanese calligraphy. We mixed some ink, learned a little about the Japanese scripts, and practiced strokes before making our final kanji character to take home. Thank you to Sowa!
