The Muhammad Ali Mosque or Alabaster Mosque is a mosque situated in the Citadel of Cairo in Egypt and was commissioned by Muhammad Ali Pasha between 1830 and 1848.

Situated on the summit of the citadel, this Ottoman mosque, the largest to be built in the first half of the 19th century, is, with its animated silhouette and twin minarets, the most visible mosque in Cairo.

Khan el-Khalili is a famous bazaar and souq (or souk) in the historic center of Cairo, Egypt.

Cairo Citadel

The Citadel of Cairo or Citadel of Saladin is a medieval Islamic-era fortification in Cairo, Egypt, built by Salah ad-Din (Saladin) and further developed by subsequent Egyptian rulers. It was the seat of government in Egypt and the residence of its rulers for nearly 700 years from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Its location on a promontory of the Mokattam hills near the center of Cairo commands a strategic position overlooking the city and dominating its skyline. When it was constructed it was among the most impressive and ambitious military fortification projects of its time. It is now a preserved historic site.

Everyone came to Egypt for the first time, thanks to the guide for the detailed explanation of ancient Egyptian civilization, before the artifacts are only in the book to look, go around in person plus the explanation impresses more! Additionally, the price offers are very friendly for people who don't speak Arabic or are not very good in English, so Travellers can relax!

This was an amazing day, filled with a memorable impressions of Cairo’s historical sites and monuments: the imposing Citadel, architectural beauty of Mohamed Ali Mosque, striking facts about Egyptian history and human abilities 4.500 years ago depicted in the Museum of Egyptian Civilization, joined with grasping the history of Egyptian timeline through observing 22 mummies of the ancient kings - all together mind blowing! Respecting the abundance of the historical facts it is essential that you have a knowledgeable guide to lead you through it - and we were really lucky to have a professional, well versed Egyptologist guide.
