The tour itself is a 5 star..the places we visited were amazing. Our host was great at making it such a memorable experience. The islands and additional trip to Staffa were a highlight of our trip. Based on those things the trip would have been a resounding FIVE but our accommodation was less than ideal. I would give it a 1 and although the hosts were wonderful it was essentially a small room in the attic without a ceiling fan or air conditioning. It had to be 90 degrees up there and we asked for a fan but they didn't have one and the window didn't have a screen so we had to choose between air and letting bugs in. In addition, everyone else had rooms right on the main road of the town and we had a 15 minute hike up a steep climb to get back and forth to our room. For how much we paid, the accommodation should have been nicer. So the tour is an absolute YES but I would secure your own accommodations.

Sadly, you only ask about the positive memories of the tour. That only boosts "happy" comments you post. The tour was very disappointing. While one cannot control the weather, the lack of back-up plans was unfortunate. For instance, when the tour arrived on Mull, there was a chance the weather would not hold and the ferry to Iona would be cancelled. When asked if the group could visit the castle (I believe Duart), the tour guide did not know if the castle was open. He found that the castle had closed the day before, but the castle was likely still viewable. It was not offered to the group. Instead, the trip back went along the other side of the island with more views of the coastline. Lovely, but not worth the cost. The female single passenger on the tour who sat in the jump seat beside the tour director was NOT in charge though she interjected herself into situations that were his domain. Not a good look. And after the Belgium Viator guide being so professional, knowledgeable, and personable, the comparison to this tour was very markedly different.

Allistar was an excellent tour guide. He's an excellent driver. Unfortunately, the weather caused havoc on the tour. The ferries to Iona and Staffa were canceled due to bad weather conditions. I am so impressed with Allistar's professionalism as he strived to give our group an interesting tour even though the main aspects of the tour wasn't available. We did get to see the Abbey on Iona in the distance through the driving sheets of rain. On the last day the weather continued to play havoc as both roads to Kilmartin Glen was closed . However, Allistar persevered and the military road opened after lunch, with a convoy leading the way. The archeological sites in Kilmartin Glen were wonderful. Hats off to a terrific tour guide!!!

We were lucky enough to have the wonderful guidance of George and the driving skills of Nick both from Rabbies Tours. Can’t say enough nice things about both men, George had an endless repertoire of stories about each placed we visited and was very flexible in terms of both meeting the needs of the travelers and keeping to schedule. Long hours in a van are a bit difficult at my age (78) so I am not sure I would travel this way again, but we couldn’t have asked for a better itinerary.
