Acropolis
Acropolis is an archaeological wonder, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and one of the most instantly recognizable landmarks of Athens. Skip the long lines and see the ancient Greek temple of Parthenon which is dedicated to Athena, the goddess of war as well as Propylae, the temple of Athena Nike, Erecheion and Herodes Atticus from the top. Marvel Parthenon and its amazing views on your own pace on this solo exploration of the very cradle of Western civilization. Towering over the capital, Acropolis is a very impressive sight, and walking around on its grounds, gives the visitor a feeling of awe and a true sense of the greatness of the ancient Greeks.

The instructions given with the purchase are incomplete. You need to determine the entrance location with the provided map which is the same entrance everyone else is using. Join the line to be at the main entrance at your assigned time. There may be people ahead of you with later entry times so you may need to go past them. HOWEVER, if you need to use the toilet or think you might while you are on the acropolis, you need to use the OUTSIDE the main entrance on the right hand side. There could be a line for the toilets so get there early and then get in the admission line. When they call your time, you may enter. Press start on your audio tour at this time as they are a bit wordy. If you enjoy the audio, continue playing it. You can replay or jump around but I found it cumbersome and frustrating. I ended up turning off the tour and viewing the various sites on top and reading the English descriptions of what I was viewing. There were a few tour groups you could glean some information from but most of my time was spent viewing the various locations. You cannot enter any of them as they are roped off. Some have scaffolding for repairs or support. There are only a few benches on top to rest at. The climb can be strenuous if you are out of shape. I recommend 2 bottles of water at least (.5 liter). The nice thing about this ticket is that you can proceed at your own pace and not be tied to a tour group. You can find one of the few benches and sit for an hour if you like and then continue without pressure. You can also read the dialogue of the tour as opposed to listening to it or you can play it as many times as you like to enhance your understanding. I’d suggest doing your own research about the Acropolis before going to have a better idea of what you are supposed to be looking at. We spent a total of 2 hrs and 15 minutes from the time we entered until we left. Other than the cheesy dialogue, the lack of concise instructions, and a warning about lack of facilities on top, the tour accomplished what I needed it to.

You’re paying the premium for the early entry/ skipping the lines. The audio tour is awful - Viator should be more transparent about what this is
