Dam Square
The dam, Also known as the City built on trees: Due to the soil in Amsterdam consisting of a thick layer of fen and clay, some buildings in the city are built on wooden poles that are fixed in a sandy layer that is approximately 11 meters deep. Since the old days, the houses in Amsterdam were known to have been built on wooden foundation piles that are driven deep into the clay, peat, and water until they reach the first layer of solid sand.

The guide who led our tour was extremely rude and disrespectful, making us feel uncomfortable throughout the entire experience. He also made inappropriate comments directed at me. I reported the issue to the activity provider two weeks ago via chat, but I have not received any response.

Our guide shared the history of the area and how and why the profession started in Amsterdam with the merchants and shipmates coming into the port after their journeys. Historically, very informative. There is a sense that the women in the window get more tourists walking around than actual trade

I loved the historical information our guide provided the group throughout the tour. Our tour guide did an amazing job and made the tour (even during the rain) interesting for the whole group.
