What To Expect

Driving from Piraeus port we pass by Pasalimani, a charming small harbor located in the area of Piraeus. It is one of the largest and most prominent marinas in the region, providing docking facilities for luxury yachts, sailing boats, and other types of vessels.

As we continue further down, we drive by Mikrolimano, a harbor similar to Pasalimani, where we can make a small stop for photos (if traffic allows it), as it offers a beautiful view of the sea and the city.

The highlight of this tour was the Acropolis. I would recommend focusing on your main points of interest in lieu of "Ancient Athens Highlights". I enjoyed the tour and our guide was great but time is limited everywhere so it's a challenge.

Our tour guide was Basileus and he was amazing! He was charismatic, funny, and very knowledgeable. The tour should have been longer to allow more time in Piraeus at the market. We only had 45 minutes to gulp down our lunch which was sad considering the food was so good! I would do the market or the Acropolis but not both in same day unless you had more time as you will miss things you wish you had not.

Stamatia was waiting for us when we got off the ship with a driver and mini-van. She welcomed us and then we started the tour with Stamatia giving us history as we went along. We went to a lovely viewing area first for a photo and then moved on to the Olympic Stadium. We then walked (our choice) through to the presidents residence in time to see the changing of the guard. This was far better than the one outside of the parliament as it was in the shade with hardly any spectators so great pictures! Back in to the minivan, we stopped at the gardens and walked through to the parliament building in time for another changing of the guard but crowded and hot so didn't stop at this one. We then stopped at the National Library, University of Athens and Academy of Athens. Beautiful buildings and impressive architecture. All the while Stamatia stayed with us, offered us rest breaks and gave us history lessons! We then drove to the Acropolis and surrounding area. We choose not to buy tickets for the Acropolis and climb up. We got some lovely pictures and then stood on the rock at Mars Hill for fab views over Athens. We then drove to the Plaka area and had some free time. This tour was exactly what wanted having never visited before - a bit of everything, all the main sites and an informative friendly guide. We would have no hesitation in recommending this tour and especially Stamatia when in Athens. Thank you so much.

Vicki was a great guide and native to Athens. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. Cruise port pickup went smooth and was a convenient way to get into Athens and spend the day learning about Greece & seeing great places in the city. Worked out perfect as check-in at my bnb wasn’t possible until 3pm. The bus driver kindly went out of his way & dropped me off at my bnb with luggage. Many thanks.

Tharnassis was very knowledgeable and made sure we were comfortable throughout the journey. My son and I needed to return to the cruise earlier than expected and he made sure he got us a taxi directly to our cruise terminal and made sure we were safe. Thank you for the tour!

What a fantastic day, the tour was excellent and our guide was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. Plenty of free time at the stops and the shuttle van was also very comfortable with a great driver. Top marks, highly recommended.

Our guide was very friendly and attentive to all guests. He provided great information to accompany the sites we visited and physically got us through lines quicker! He also provided great information for our following visits to other Greek islands.

Athens Karavas Travel is great in organising our tour. Stamatia assisted us in booking all our tours in Santorini and and Athens. She gave us a good deal. A tour bus was organised for pick up from the port after our cruise and took our group (10 people) for the excursions selected and dropped us off at our hotel at the end of our tour which made it convenient for all of us. Thanasis, our tour guide is an amazing tour guide, very committed to his service and very professional. He is customer-focused and made sure that we are all comfortable and happy with our excursion experience. He is knowlegeable of the information about the history, places, culture and all about Athens. He is very caring as he always made sure that we were always safe and always reminding us to take care when going up and down the hills due to marble footpath can be slippery, and when crossing the road which really made us feel safe anf comfortable.
