I lived in Athens and know my way around, and wasn't sure how new and interesting this experience might be, but this tour in Koukaki was simply terrific. Theo, our guide, was the highlight with his wonderful personality and knowledge of the area and the food/culture/history. We went to so many places, it was a small group so like an evening with friends, not a tour at all. We ate everything from homemade tiropita (cheese pie) to olive oil tasting with fresh bread, wine, zucchini fritters and fava dip at Tavern Tomas 1971 to a beautiful meze platter at a mom and pop grocery to a full meal of Moussaka and more at a family run tavern -- and lots more in between. Theo had so much to share about the history of this neighborhood -- right next to the Plaka, it's a place where locals actually hang out and I'd highly recommend to explore a bit outside the usual tourist places. He also recommended restaurants and the new Goulandris Museum of Contemporary Art which was INCREDIBLE. I've done a few Devour Tours and they are also excellent, and the guides have been really wonderful. I did the Ultimate Athens Food Tour as well, there' another review on Trip Advisor on that.

WHAT A WONDERFUL TOUR.. Xenia and Eleni and Christos, we had the best time wandering around with you, and enjoying the food, drinks and the history you gave us. We didn't know about "name day" but it will give us something else to celebrate (Christos, sorry about you and I having our name day on Christmas). Best, best tour ever and a wonderful ending with lunch and music. You all were knowledgeable, organized and just FUN.

We enjoyed our food tour in the Plaka with Eleni. She was knowledgable, well organized and we enjoyed her company. Eleni took us to a place that specialized in traditional Greek "pies", a well established traditional "kafenion" and a "pantopolion that is owned by three former attorneys. We enjoyed each stop and were most impressed with Eleni's knowledge of Greek cuisine, culture, traditions and customs. Even though we are of Greek descent, the insight provided by Eleni and experienced by us first hand during the tour were much appreciated! We recommend this tour to all who are interested in Greek cuisine and the local food culture.

This tour was outstanding. We wanted to experience Athens by walking the city and enjoying the food, drinks and culture. Eleni was an incredible guide - providing historical context, taking us to some unbelievable restaurants and cafes, and helping us explore some of the famous historical sites. Her knowledge and love of Greece made the tour that much more impactful. I highly recommend Epiculiar, and Eleni in particular. It made a great trip even better!!

This was a great tour! The guide was very knowledgeable. It felt like we spent the morning with an old friend. There is no better way to experience the culture of a country than to learn about its cuisine.

We wanted to explore Greek food on a tour by a local. Therefore, we chose this tour. Xenia gave us a marvelous tour which exceeded our expectations. She took us to various local spots, ending up in a specialty shop called Pantoplion, which features different types of olive oils, wines, cheeses, meats, wines, beers and spirits. It was a truly wonderful experience, and the olive oil tasting was informative and eye opening. Xenia also told us facts about our hotel building and other sites in Athens which we did not know. We highly recommend taking a tour with Xenia.

Our flight arrived into Athens in the morning. I knew we needed something to keep us going for a few hours. The concierge suggested this tour. A great way to start our trip to Greece! We were met by both Xenia & Eleni for the 2 couples at our hotel. The walking tour consisted of history, culture and of course, food! They were a delight and so excited to share this experience with us. As well, they emailed us pictures they took of us enjoying the experience. We did have a 1/2 day tour planned already of the city, Acropolis museum and of course the Acropolis the following morning before we headed to Santorini. The food tour was the perfect compliment to our visit to Athens.

We were very lucky to have the wonderful Xenia look after us in Athens. We have done many great food and cultural tours in other countries, and the 2 that we did with Epiculiar in first Athens and then Thessaloniki were the best in terms of food, cultural experience & the hosts enthusiasm and knowledge of their cities. Thank you!

Our tours guides, Eleni and Xenia met me and my husband at our hotel, to start the tour. Along the way to our first stop our guide gave us some history about Greece and pointed out some of the important buildings of interest. Our first stop was at a local coffee shop, which we would have never found on our own. What a treat! Greek coffee is the best! We also sampled some sweet treats! What a great way to start our tour. We stopped at the Central Market in Athens where all the fish, meat and produce is sold. We also stopped at other local shops and everyone was very friendly. Our last stop was for lunch at a small family owned restaurant served with wine and all the Greek delicacies. We wished we had more time but we had to rush back to our hotel for a massage that we had scheduled. Time flies so don't plan anything else in case it runs a bit longer. Great tour and guides!

This tour was a fantastic way to get a real feel for the city and its spectacular food. Our hostess, Xenia, and host,Thanasis, were a delight to be with and it was very clear from the start how carefully they planned our stops knowing we had 3 children ages 13, 11 and 8 along with us. The merchants and restaurant owners were so friendly and accommodating and made each stop unique and memorable. At the end of our stay in Athens we asked our kids what their favorite thing was and they all agreed it was this tour!!!!!
