Very emotional museum which is sensitively curated , you will visit Auschwitz 1 and Berkinau camps travelling between the two camps via a shuttle bus , the host tried to tell all of us in the party that it wasn’t worth visiting Berkinau camp , that is not at all true please visit both camps to really understand the living conditions, the platform and so much more highly significant sites within the camp even if you feel the walk is too long then just sit in quiet contemplation,

Don’t buy tickets the night before. We got to the meeting point 15 minutes early, we weren’t on the drivers list so he would not take us, he didn’t ring the company but left us to call, no answer, no tour. It took us another couple hours to get through and get a refund. Had to rebook (cost extra $30) - next tour in 2 days, had to extend accommodation for an extra day. When we did get to tour it was great, highly recommend as it is very well presented with respect and honour to the victims.

Booked a 9am tour. Was told pick up is at 6am. Arrived at 6:45am at Auchwitz only to sit outside for 2.15 until we could go in at 9am. I booked this tour to secure my tickets. But they dont. They get you there before the box office is open to get the leftover tickets that are available. I could have done this myself and not spent 550 Euros. Driver was nice but didnt speak a word of English. Just go early before the box office is open at 7am and wait yourself in line. Essentially that's what they are doing and marking up the tickets cost by 3 - 4 x. 7

THIS IS A SCAM. Avoid it. You are betting off arranging your own transit through your hotel (or taking a train or taxi) and going on your own. The best option would be to pre-book a ticket at the museum, rather than going and waiting in line. The Viator “tour” is really just a bus ride to and from the camp. When you get dropped off, you wait in line to buy tickets. Here is how it works. It is confusing to find and board the bus. The bus ride is 1 hour and very uncomfortable. You wait in line to buy a ticket for 1.5 hours, then buy the tickets for individuals that you did not need a group/guide/reservation for. At this stage, the ticket times are often sold out and the entry group sizes are small, so you could end up getting a ticket for 1-2 hours later than when you bought it. The bus left at 6am and I didn’t go into the museum until 10am. There was only 1 other person from my 30 person bus that was in my entry group. That is, your bus group gets split up across various ticket times. The Viator “guide” provides no information at all and does not go into the camps with you. You are not paying for anything, certainly not a tour. Instead, the ticket that you buy yourself on arrival gets you a free tour with a guide in whatever language you want. When you finish the museum’s own tour, either the people from your bus are waiting for you already or you have to wait for people who had later ticket times. On our bus, the ticket times were staggered between 9am and 11am, meaning some people had 2 hours waits at the end of the day. A taxi or the train would be easier, faster, and cheaper. The day started at 6am. We returned at 4pm. There was no food or anything like that provided, although you probably will not want anything after seeing the camps. You should ABSOLUTELY go to the camps. But don’t use a Viator tour.

Good tour. Based on the description, we thought it would be longer. This wasn't a problem in the end.
