A stroll through Beijing’s Hutongs are recommended to every visitor to the capital, but locals know that “there are as many hutongs as there are hairs on an ox” around the city. The best way to get to know the most scenic twisting backstreets that locals call home is by eating your way through them, especially at the pop-up breakfast stalls that disappear after the morning rush hour. On this tour, you’ll meet your bilingual guide and small group at a convenient location, then head out to try traditional morning dishes side-by-side with the locals who love them.

The breakfast tour was fantastic. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, insightful, and friendly. We started near the Lama Temple and explored the surrounding area on foot. We got to try a wide variety of dishes, including some lesser-known but very authentic local foods. I enjoyed the tour so much that I expressed interest in joining his night tour as well. He said I could join, but unfortunately, I never received any follow-up email. That lack of communication ended up throwing off my evening plans. That said, the morning experience was truly a highlight of my trip, and I would still wholeheartedly recommend the breakfast tour to anyone wanting an authentic taste of the city.

Highly recommend this tour and the company. We did multiple tours in Beijing and this was the winner. We were not sure about a breakfast tour but it was awesome. Lots of great food, awesome guide, food focused, informative, and fun.

Garth provided an exceptional tour experience during my time in Beijing, ensuring my every need was taken care of. His extensive knowledge, friendly demeanor, and attention to detail truly enhanced my visit. Not only did he offer insightful commentary about the city's rich history and culture, but he also introduced me to some amazing local cuisine. A fantastic guide and a delightful companion - my trip to Beijing was truly unforgettable thanks to Garth!

Would highly recommend this tour - Garth is a great guide, you get to try a wide range of different foods and really explore the area but also I found it so helpful just to figure out how things ‘work’ in China - how to order and pay etc which sounds simple but can be quite overwhelming when you don’t know! I thought Garth was really kind and fun and I felt really taken care of, which as a solo female traveller mattered a lot. I’ve now booked another tour with the same country for Shanghai!

Great way to see Beijing local suburbs and taste the local breakfast food. Garth our guide was great, nice to see a fellow Aussie in Beijing but speaking excellent mandarin. Garth took us to different food stores and explained what they are and the stories behind the food, like the origin of the dim sim which I didn’t know. We love the freshly made warm ‘donkey rolled in dust’ mochi, and the lively lady who made them. Garth also went out of his way to get us some boxes and tape as we needed to send some parcels home. An excellent tour and a great informative guide. A highly recommended tour.
