A stroll through Beijing’s Hutongs are recommended to every visitor to the capital, but locals know that “there are as many hutongs as there are hairs on an ox” around the city. The best way to get to know the most scenic twisting backstreets that locals call home is by eating your way through them, especially at the pop-up breakfast stalls that disappear after the morning rush hour. On this tour, you’ll meet your bilingual guide and small group at a convenient location, then head out to try traditional morning dishes side-by-side with the locals who love them.

It was our first day in beijing and we thought this tour would be a good way to kick start our 10 day tour and boy were we right! Our tour guide Garth was passionate and had a good knowledge of the history behind the food we tasted. This sharing of food origin gave a different and interesting insight into the city of Beijing

Travellers from Brazil and the world, the experience with Garth, our food tour guide, was amazing! In addition to the guide demonstrar.vasto familiar and being very helpful, the meals are prepared by locals at various points of the woodongs located in the vicinity of important sights, all done with great care and abundance. I highly recommend!

We had a great time walking through the Hutongs and sampling typical street foods. The tour was unrushed and interesting. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and the food was varied and plentiful.

I had a wonderfull experience. We were able to try multiple dishes and our host took us to places we would never venture ourselves. I recommend doing this tour on the beginning of your trip so you can try more places afterwards. The neighbourhood we venture into is really relaxing and has a lot to offer. Our host knew a lot of history about the dishes and the area. Thanks again Garth of taking such good care of us!

The breakfast tour was fantastic. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, insightful, and friendly. We started near the Lama Temple and explored the surrounding area on foot. We got to try a wide variety of dishes, including some lesser-known but very authentic local foods. I enjoyed the tour so much that I expressed interest in joining his night tour as well. He said I could join, but unfortunately, I never received any follow-up email. That lack of communication ended up throwing off my evening plans. That said, the morning experience was truly a highlight of my trip, and I would still wholeheartedly recommend the breakfast tour to anyone wanting an authentic taste of the city.

Garth was an accommodating, welcoming and knowledgeable guide! Despite the public holiday, he went above and beyond to make sure the group dynamic and experience were top-notch! His friendliness and banter with the locals made it such an enjoyable tour! The history tidbits made it even better! Hardly noticed the distance we walked! Even though it wasn’t part of the tour, I especially requested a Beijing breakfast item Ive been dying to try and he delivered. Tip: if you are keen to try a specific food/place - let Garth know and he will guide you to the best places!
