Coffee Farm Tour in Bogotá – From Bean to Brew

Escape the city and join a full-day journey into the Andean countryside, where Colombia’s coffee culture comes alive on a small organic farm led by campesina women. Enjoy a campesino-style breakfast and olleta-brewed coffee served by local hosts. Explore 5,000 coffee plants, learn to spot ripe beans, and discover how hand-picking shapes the harvest. The farm’s natural ecosystem—free of fumigation—reveals sustainable practices, including insects that live in rural balance. Join a workshop with a campesina host to grind roasted beans and brew a second cup with a French press. If the season allows, plant your own coffee tree and leave a mark on the land. Savor a Colombian lunch in a serene, open-air setting before returning to Bogotá. This immersive tour blends sustainability, storytelling, and flavor; from seed to sip. Authentic, cozy, and culturally rich, ideal for travelers who value real connections over mass tourism.

A wonderful experience! I’ve visited coffee farms before but this the best experience- you are welcomed with a nice breakfast, learn so much about coffee from a plant seed all the way to a cup! You get your hands dirty picking the fruit and go through the whole process, so you get a good appreciation for all that goes into it! Lunch was yummy and nice souvenirs too. I highly recommend. Women owned and operated, high quality coffee A+++! The dogs are also really cute- say hi to little Rihanna! ☺️

We had such an incredible time and would highly recommend this to all the coffee lovers out there! Lorena was a great guide and we really enjoyed the hands-on tour, great conversation and beautiful views. One of the best cups of coffee I've ever had!

This trip was fantastic. The drive over the mountain was beautiful- so much to see out the window. Lorraina was a lovely guide, describing the different ecosystems we were passing through. At the farm, the entire staff were very welcoming as were the dogs, JLo and Rhianna. We had breakfast, toured the farm learning about coffee production from planting, to picking, to processing. Then we learned about the different kinds of coffee and roasting techniques. We taste-tested coffee and are now qualified to be coffee snobs! A wonderful traditional lunch followed. I give the whole experience 10 out of 10, no notes.

This experience in Bogota was wonderful. Our guide, Lorena was knowledgeable, friendly and energetic. The drive to the farm took us through some unique fauna as we drove through the clouds up 2000 feet (600 meters) above Bogota and then back down to about 6000 (1830 meters) feet. We saw a whole new environment as we crossed the top of the Andes. Upon arriving at the coffee farm we were greeted by the owner and her security patrol: five of the happiest, most laid-back dogs I've known! Although there is a tour here almost every day, you'd think that we were the first people they'd seen in years. We were served a traditional Colombian breakfast then began our immersion into the growing and preparation of USDA Certified organic coffee. I got to dig a hole and plant a baby coffee plant; his name is Charlie and he'll produce his first cherries in 2027. (Ask to see Charlie the Coffee Plant if you go.) The entire tour is interactive so you really do get to be "a coffee farmer for a day". After our time as coffee farmers we were served a delicious chicken and rice lunch, then participated in a proper coffee tasting. I now have a new appreciation for my morning coffee. The drive back to Bogota was as enjoyable as the drive up and we left with a bag of fresh Colombian coffee, a couple trinkets my wife picked out and a new memory.

  • Tour not worth what one costs, coffee farm from Bogota: Become a farmer for a day, I don't recommend it

A deceptive and expensive tour. It does not pick up at the hotel you have to move to a hostel in a part away from the center that is not very secure. He left an hour and a half after the date at the hostel, because the guide was late and was waiting for a person who never arrived. At the end of the tour the guide got off the transport and left us alone with the driver. They offer breakfast and lunch but it is unhygienic because there are flies.

  • Don't miss this - worth every penny!

This was an AMAZING day! Highly recommended, and a highlight of our stay in Bogota. Really, every aspect of the day was excellent. Our guide, Lorenzo, was friendly and outgoing, and shared a ton of information about Colombia. At the coffee farm, we were greeted by the owner, and introduced to our guide for the coffee experience - also a warm and friendly person, who showed us every aspect of coffee production. Breakfast and lunch were generous and delicious - everything was farm-fresh and organic and beautifully served on a patio with a view overlooking the mountains. We met the hens who laid our breakfast eggs! They're part of the farm's ecosystem. And, needless to say, the coffee was delicious! I won't lie - I was nervous at the thought of driving on narrow mountain roads (which indeed they were!) but our driver was 100% reliable. He knew where to pause on the road to let us snap amazing shots of the Andes. I had hesitated booking this because it felt pricey - but we more than got our money's worth from this outstanding day trip.

Amazing experience from planting, picking, processing, and drinking it. Though the site was only 1.5hrs away from Bogota, it was incredibly beautiful and refreshing. Last but not least, the guids were of course fantastic, with full of knowledge and generousity! Thank you so much for the experience!

A must do if you’re a coffee aficionado In Bogota! I own a coffee roasting company here in Honolulu and learned a lot from Karen and Claudia because they made me feel like family the moment I walked in. I love the fact that it’s a women own organic, third generation coffee farm. Food was tasty, people were friendly, pets- guard dogs, were friendlier. I had a great time while in Colombia!
