If booking your own accommodation, you must book within 2km of Fort William town centre.
Luggage is restricted to one medium sized suitcase per person. For guidance: a medium sized suitcase is considered 60-69cm high and roughly 45cm in width.
Please note: from 22nd December to 1st February 2025, Eilean Donan Castle will be closed. We will still stop at the castle for photos and access to the bridge will be available. However, the Visitor Centre and toilet facilities will be closed.

What To Expect
Travel from Edinburgh to Fort William
Accommodations
We spend overnight in Fort William
Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park
Departing Edinburgh, our two-day tour will begin by heading west and collecting our Glasgow passengers. From there, we will head north, passing by the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond and stopping for a comfort break in the scenic loch-side village of Luss
Inveraray
We continue west, passing the magnificent Rest and Be Thankful pass before arriving in Inveraray. Home to the spectacular Inveraray Castle, which you might recognise from Downton Abbey, the Royal Burgh of Inveraray makes for a perfect stop. We will take time here to enjoy the loch-side views, explore the streets, and grab some lunch before continuing north into the Highlands.
Glencoe
On our way north, we will pass through dramatic Glencoe, site of the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald Clan. You might recognise this valley from James Bond’s Skyfall. We will take time here to learn about the area’s history, as well as getting some fantastic photos.
Glenfinnan Viaduct
Following a quick comfort break in the area, we will continue on to the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct, which you may recognise from the Harry Potter movies. During summer months, we will arrive with time to see the Jacobite Steam Train (or Hogwarts Express) crossing the bridge and get that famous photo. Please note: the Jacobite Steam Train is operated by a third party and as such we cannot guarantee that the train will be running or that the tour will meet up with the train in time to see it cross the viaduct.
Fort William
We then end our exciting first day of touring by arriving in Fort William, where you will check in to your accommodation for the night.
Travelling from Fort William to Edinburgh
Eilean Donan Castle
After a hearty highland breakfast, we will begin our second day of touring by checking out of our accommodation and heading north to Glengarry Viewpoint, offering spectacular views. Keep an eye out for how Loch Garry looks for the viewpoint, as it is meant to look like a bird’s eye view of mainland Scotland. From that brilliant view, our tour continues eastwards towards Scotland’s most photographed castle, Eilean Donan. Take time here to explore the castle and its grounds and learn about its fascinating history.
Fort Augustus
Our tour then heads to the beautiful town of Fort Augustus, at the foot of Loch Ness. We will spend time here for lunch, and to take in the views of Loch Ness - and keep an eye out for Nessie of course!
Commando Monument
From Fort Augustus, we begin to head south, stopping at the Commando Memorial on the way. Here, take time to learn about the memorial and enjoy views of Ben Nevis, Britain’s tallest mountain.
Pitlochry
On our return journey to Edinburgh, enjoy a relaxing journey through a beautiful highland setting. We will enjoy a comfort break in Dunkeld or Pitlochry where you can soak up the atmosphere in these picturesque towns.
Forth Road Bridge
We then begin the final stretch of our journey back towards Edinburgh, crossing over the impressive Queensferry Crossing. This engineering giant spans the Firth of Forth, and joins the Forth Road Bridge and iconic Forth Rail Bridge, representing 3 centuries of Scottish engineering and innovation. After a short journey, we then arrive back in Edinburgh, where our 2-day Eilean Donan, Loch Ness and the Highlands tour comes to an end.

And our guide, Andrew T., made everything even more special. His passion for the Highlands, the stories, his Welsh dialogue, the soundtracks, and his explanations revealed even more of the history and mysteries of the Highlands. I will definitely be back. 5.00I can highly recommend booking this tour, especially if Andrew T. is your tour guide. Not only did we get to see the most beautiful places in Scotland, but were delighted by history lessons, local stories, iconic music, cultural and culinaric insights (treats, whisky, food places, etc), movies/actors and film sets all tied back to the heritage of the country. We loved every second of it. If you have the chance - book it!

While exploring Edinburgh has been nothing short but magical, adding this excursion has definitely shown the true Scottish nature. This trip hit all the places from Eilean Donan (Highlands), Loch Ness, and Glennfinnan Viaduct (Harry Potter) with the best and fantastic tour guide ever, Nick. Nick made sure everyone in the group was having the best time, with such attentive to details, humour, intriguing stories, and cared to show all the cool places as an insider/experience.

5.00We had our 2 day trip with Nick, and we couldn't ask for anyone better. He's a charismatic, funny, great planner and great story-teller person who made our journey unforgettable. He was nice, always knowing how to deal with any situation that we faced on the road, explaining to us funny facts or historical events, letting us know about the schedule but being completely okay with any delays that may have happened, letting us the time to explore every place we visited and always trying to make us feel comfortable. He even got us treats, which I thought was very kind The whole experience was a 10/10. Thank you Nick! ☺️

5.00We had the best experience on this tour! Our guide, Lolli, was absolutely amazing and made the whole 2 days fly by. We love history and she shared so much information throughout the tour and made everything really fascinating. She took our requests into account, and kept the whole crew entertained with a lovely amount of wit as well :) The logistics were a breeze, including the hotel drop off/pick up. All in all this was one of the highlights of our entire 6 week trip in Europe and would recommend to anyone who wants a quick pop up to the highlands.

5.00The sights you will see-there are plenty-and the history attached to the many places on the tour make it an attraction. Our driver/guide Alistar did a fantastic job,made everyone feel at ease for the 2 days we were with him and was so informative and passed this on to us all. I will be back in the very near future with my wife and son to try the many different tours on offer. I highly recommend the Highland tour to Loch Ness/Eilean Donan. Loved it.👍
