What To Expect

Coptic Cairo

Our tour guide will escort you by an air conditioned vehicle to a new era to "Coptic Cairo" where you will visit the "Hanging Church" which is dating back to the 3rd Century AD and was dedicated to Virgin Mary ,It's called "Hanging" because of its location above the gatehouse of the ancient Roman fortress "Babylon" .It contains 110 Holy icons depicting beautiful religious scenes. Then visiting "Saint Sergius and Bacchus Church” which is believed to have been built on the spot where the holy family rested at the end of their journey into Egypt. Then, visiting the "Jewish Synagogue of Ben Ezra" which gained its importance from its Geniza (Store room) was found during the 19th century containing a treasure of abandoned Hebrew secular and sacred manuscripts.

Adel provided a very thorough tour and explanation of the Coptic churches in Cairo and we were blown away by the opportunity to experience the ground once traversed by the Holy Family. Highly recommend Adel and this half day tour.

We went to see Coptic Cairo tour with our tour guide and saw all the important and religious sites. Our tour guide Abu Bakar was wonderful and explained everything important about each site and answered any questions that we had. We really enjoyed his company and a great experience learning about this amazing tour!

We hired Adel to give us a tour of Coptic Cairo and the Citadel today. He did an incredible job of explaining the history of the region and Egypt. He’s incredibly knowledgeable! We toured the Citadel, several mosques and Coptic Cairo. He took us to a Christian church and Jewish synagogue and talked with us about the evolution of the very special places. Adel is a very smart, caring and kind person. He’s very passionate about being a tour guide and sharing his knowledge and wisdom. I highly recommend Adel and hope to be able to hire him again sometime to show us more of Cairo.

The highlight of the tour was the Mosque of Muhammad Ali. The lanterns, domes, and arches were breathtaking. The view of Cairo from The Citadel was also worth the price of admission. Aden was very courteous and provided tons of historical background and context.

I had the pleasure of having Adel Abd as my tour guide. He knew where exactly to go and had facts to share about each place. If you ask him for some time alone so that you can take in the awesomeness, he is happy to give you some space and ready to be by your side when you are ready. I HIGHLY recommend Adel.

Honestly, I have been to a lot of countries with a rich history and this has by far been the best tour to start a holiday with. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and it was so great to get to be able to see the passion for the history as well as experience the knowledge and really be able to embrace the cultural differences between the mosques, churches and synagogue. Would definitely recommend to all my friends and family who travel here!
