The trip is advertised as a full day and assumes you start from Hanoi. If you arrive by cruise ship it is only half a day and you are charged for the 4 hour round trip to Hanoi and have to buy a $40 round trip by taxi from the ship yo the bay cruise. Food guide and boat ride are great but all the boats ( there are too many) go to exactly the same overcrowded polluted sites. And we wouldn't do this again

We didn't see Ha Long Bay. The tour operator picked me up and other passengers in Hanoi to do a 3-hr drive to the port. Only there did they announce that boats couldn't leave the harbour because of a typhoon. They served lunch and drove us back. No boats had left the port all day. But the guide wanted us to believe they didn't know anything earlier. As if the typhoon appeared out of nowhere. Instead of cancelling the tour before leaving Hanoi, they prefered not to say anything and have everyone lose a day. I understand they can't do anything about the weather, but they shouldn't have driven us to the port for nothing knowing that it was closed. Maybe the tour is good is everything goes accroding to plan, but you can't trust them if anything goes wrong.

Lunch was good, the mountains great, was told the speedboat would take us to King kong island when we were on the bus. It just went around a few rocks, no King kong mentioned.

Mostly good tour and great to see beautiful halong. Tour says maximum 40 that is misleading as on the boat there are two floors of 40 so really it is 80 not forty
