The trip was a good way to experience the North of Scotland and the coastal areas and to get a "whistle stop" overview. The views from the coach were breathtaking, of both the coast and the mountains and the villages were pretty and interesting. As expected, with a coach trip, you have to follow the timings of the coach, so you can't linger anywhere and often you have to queue for food and drink which eats into the amount of time you have to spend in each place, but it was lovely to see the views and get out and have a walk in a few places. My favourite part was eating delicious fish and chips on my own, on a bench looking out across the water to the Shetland Islands! However the fish and chips were a bit of a long wait due to lots of other people eating there. Dunrobin castle was a disappointment. You need to know that it is all steps and a lot of them! I had just run the Loch Ness marathon a couple of days before and what with sitting on the coach, my legs struggled to manage to get up and down the steps on and off the coach (which I found tough), let alone all the endless flights of stairs both in the castle and in the gardens. If you can't manage stairs, you can't even get in the castle, if you can manage a few, you can get into the cafe, but the garden is at the bottom of a lot of flights of stairs and there is no ground floor to see in the castle! It's all steps, which were a torture to me! I gave up on attempting to see both the castle and the garden. There is nothing that you can see there if you can't get up and down lots and lots of stairs.

Fabulous scenery and great stories from Willy, our driver! The coastline was beautiful and it gave us a glimpse of the wonderful highlands beauty and culture.

Immersive North Scotland…the tour guide and driver gave us a fabulous look into the lesser travelled areas in the northernmost part of UK. We learned history, saw seals, oil rigs in dock for repair, castles, gardens, windmill farms, one of the roughest sea passages in Europe where Atlantic meets North Sea, saw islands, tidal estuaries, memorials, old villages and agriculture and sea ‘stacks’ with the added bonus of an optional short hike. I am truly glad I took this tour.

The tour itself was nice, but if you can't stand the incessant noise of the driver's Playlist, it's nerve wracking after 10 hours. Also, the bus was very stuffy and hot.
