What To Expect

Arashiyu is a traditional Japanese-style relaxation salon conveniently located just steps from Saga-Arashiyama Station in Kyoto. It is the perfect place to gently soothe your tired feet after a day of sightseeing. Guests can relax in a foot bath while enjoying a café-style drink and a light Japanese snack, followed by a foot massage. You can choose from four types of foot baths: Miyabi (Flower Foot Bath), Zen (Green Tea Foot Bath), Wa (Matcha Foot Bath), or Misogi (Salt Foot Bath). The 15-minute foot massage is performed by a professional therapist, using bamboo sticks and massage cream to carefully massage from the knees down to the soles of the feet, including reflexology techniques. After days of long walks through Japan, this little foot spa was a real blessing. The hot salted bath with options like tea or matcha felt instantly soothing, and the massage that followed with hands and bamboo rolls released all the tension in my legs. It may seem a bit expensive for just 30 minutes, but the relief and relaxation it gave were priceless. With a cup of matcha tea afterward, I felt recharged and ready to keep exploring.
A much needed break after days of walking. Relaxing and efficient.

After almost one week traveling across Japan with 7-8 hours of walking every day, I must say that we didn't hesitate to enter this lovely foot spa salon in Arashiyama when we saw "15 mins foot bath + 15 mins foot massage". The idea is to decontract your legs with hot, salter water with whatever flavour you like (tea, matcha, etc.) and then to get a short, in depth massage of the feet and lower part of the legs with hands and bamboo rolls. Some might find the service a bit pricey, but it was definitely something we needed: 30 mins break, relieving tension in the feet and legs, a good matcha tea... and then we were ready to walk again!

Me and my partner went and had a 30 minute foot massage in a floral bath and a 10 minute neck and shoulder massage. Included was a drink and a little sweet. As soon as you walked in you were greeted with a relaxing ambiance with the music and everyone being so friendly! Both types of massages we took were incredibly relaxing and we walked out of there so relaxed and so happy! It is very close to the bamboo grove so it was very fitting to treat yourself with an amazing massage right after! Would strongly recommend going here!!

We stopped by without a booking and were lucky enough to get an appointment within 30 minutes, with our family of 4 going 2 at a time. Not only was the 15 minute soak and 15 minute foot massage extremely good and a welcome respite from the bustle outside, but the staff were exceptionally friendly. When we mentioned that we were looking to buy japan rugby shirts one of the masseurs called a store for us and had the sizes put aside for us to collect later (thanks - we got them). Totally recommend.
