During the Ikebana workshop, you'll create your own masterpiece, guided by our instructors. Your artwork will be displayed in a tokonoma (alcove) in a traditional Japanese room.

This experience is a time for immersion in nature, showing reverence for it and engaging in self-dialogue. It is a form of meditation.

The artwork in front of you is an expression derived from your past and present. It is recommended for those seeking new Zen experiences.

Our style diverges slightly from classic forms, focusing on bringing out the beauty while respecting the natural form of the plants themselves. It might be likened to a primitive style, evoking a sense of wabi-sabi.

We had a wonderful time in this ikebana experience. Our host was kind and patient, even when I paused to translate for my mother in Spanish, and they stayed with us past the scheduled time with steady guidance. They shared thoughtful insights into ikebana and welcomed our ideas, which helped us create arrangements that felt uniquely our own. I loved that the flowers were seasonal, a gentle reminder of the moment we were in, and it was especially considerate that they delivered our finished pieces to the hotel so we could enjoy them during our stay. Every time we walked into the room and saw them, we were reminded of the class and felt the calm energy of the flowers in our space. They also provided a simple yet thorough guide to the process, which was easy to follow and perfect for recreating at home. I recommend this class without hesitation. It is thoughtful, beautiful, and genuinely insightful.

It was a great experience. Our host was very kind, I brought my 6-year old daughter with and they had a flower set up for her too and kindly sat with her to do hers so I could do my floral arrangement in peace. They explain what Ikebana basic principles are and include a print out which is appreciated, I love to learn and take notes. And at the end of the day the host dropped off our flowers and branches. I highly recommend for the delightful experience!

I went with my parents and we all loved the class! The instructor taught us the basics and we each made our own ikebana arrangement. It was a very relaxing activity on our vacation. I would definitely recommend!

I truly loved my ikebana experience with them! They were the perfect blend of instructive/informative and hands-off, so that I could do my own thing. I learned a lot about the principles of ikebana and am excited to practice on my own now. My favorite part of the experience was that they brought the arrangement I made to my hotel so that I could enjoy it for a few days. They picked it up after check out. Also, just want to note, the class is in a residential area, which was such a fresh breath of air in comparison to the more tourist paths of Kyoto. Felt like a very authentic Japanese experience. Not catering to a super touristy crowd. A+++++

  • Ikebana, more than floral artistry.

Ikebana Instructor Taro, ably assisted in his english dialogue by his wife Chiaki, provided me with a comprehensive introduction to this ancient floral artistry. Their appraoch to teaching was one of peaceful enthuiasm and guidance, filling me with encouragement. In the time spent with them, I gained more than an insight into the art of Ikebana floral artistry, I found the path to an amazing journey in this beautiful art. Thank you Taro and Chiaki!

  • Great Introduction to Ikebana

A serene experience in a flower studio that offers a great introduction to ikebana. The youthful couple who teach are delightful. They chose the right amount of information to impart: good background on the philosophy and approach of ikebana. Their studio includes an alcove to photograph your finished work. Then, they were very kind to deliver the piece to my hotel to enjoy for my stay! A special thank you for their flexibility in scheduling and to accommodate a solo traveler. Easy to reach from Kinkaju Temple, making it a nice way to complement and extend the calm and meditation after your visit. Don’t hesitate to book!

Wonderful experience! We enjoyed learning about and making a beautiful ikebana from cherry blossoms and checkered lillies. The teacher and his wife were so kind and nice. The ikebanas were beautiful. They went out of their way to deliver them to our hotel so we can enjoy them for the duration of our stay in Kyoto. Everytime we walked into our hotel room, they brought smiles and great feelings. Thank you so much 🙏

  • When balance, precision, and subtlety meet.

Very good experience, the team did their best to communicate smoothly with us in English. The explanations were clear, once the demonstration was complete and the detailed concept came our turn. The team was able to guide us properly when we encountered an obstacle or difficulty. Finally, tea was graciously offered to us, and we were able to share a moment of conviviality around the linguistic notions we had in French, English and Japanese. If you want to participate in this experience, I recommend that you learn Japanese to show respect to the team that does its best to communicate in English with you, they will appreciate the gesture and the human exchange will be even richer. Thank you very much for this moment.
