Visit 2 cities in one day trip from Bangkok.
During this tour we will visit some historical temples in Ayutthaya and afterwards continue to Lopburi to visit the famous monkey-temple.
Ayutthaya, a kingdom that existed from 1350 to 1767, is a fantastic destination for culture lovers. During these four centuries, the country grew into the nation of Siam (the former name of Thailand), which roughly occupied the territory of modern Thailand, with the exception of the Lanna kingdom in northern Thailand.
Lopburi is one of Thailand’s oldest cities, being inhabited continuously since the Dvaravati era, that started 15 centuries ago. During the 10th century Lopburi became part of the Khmer empire. The Khmers built a number of impressive monuments, many of which still exist today.
During the reign of King Narai the Great in the second half of the 17th century, Lopburi was made the second capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom.

Regarding our visit to Lopburi: You must always remember that, no matter what, monkeys are wild animals, not pets. Even though they may look cute, especially the young ones, we always recommend to keep your distance, not bring any food with you and keep all your belongings in your bag. You don't need to come close as it’s just as fun to watch the monkeys from a distance.
There are still monkeys around Phra Prang Sam Yot in Lopburi, but fewer than in the past. Many were relocated by authorities due to overpopulation. Please note that Lopburi is not a zoo; the monkeys are wild and roam freely, so sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Bangkok’s traffic is often notoriously congested, so we kindly ask all guests to arrive on time. As our tours run on a group basis, we can wait a maximum of 10 minutes after the scheduled meeting time. After this grace period, the guide will begin the tour. If you cannot make it on time, please let us know before the tour starts. If possible, we’ll do our best to reschedule you for the next available day, though a rescheduling fee of THB 500 per person will apply.
Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the tour start time are eligible for a full refund. For cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance or in case of no-show, no refund will be issued. Cancellations due to weather are not eligible for a refund.
We provide hotel pick-up only from accommodations located on/near Khao San Road and on Siam Square. If you are not an actual guest at one of the hotels in our pick-up list, the designated meeting point will be our office on Chao Khamrop Road in Chinatown. IMPORTANT: The exact pick-up time will be sent to you via private message on the booking platform one day before the tour. Depending on the number of participants, hotel pick-up will be between 7:30 - 8:00 hrs). Please check your email (including junk folder) carefully the day before your tour to avoid any delays or missed departures.
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
Phra Prang Sam Yot
The Phra Prang Sam Yot was built when Lopburi was under the control of the Khmer empire from Angkor. The monument was likely founded in the late 12th or early 13th century. Phra Prang Sam Yot is Lopburi’s best known landmark and one of its oldest. It is one of several monuments that date back to the Khmer era. The monument in the center of Lopburi town is perhaps best known for the large number of monkeys that run around free, constantly on the lookout for food. Please note: Entrance fee of THB 80 per person is not included and has to be paid cash. The total duration includes traveling time from Ayutthaya to Lopburi.
Lopburi Province
This history-rich city has more to offer than just cheeky monkeys! Walking around the old town, you’ll discover ancient Khmer-style temple ruins, Buddhist temples with gleaming Buddha statues, and you’ll be deeply immersed in the unique local Thai atmosphere. The total duration includes traveling time from Lopburi back to Bangkok.

Loved being around the monkeys! Make sure you get a couple bottles of milk when you stop at 7/11 the monkeys love it!! Lots of good pictures. Make sure you keep your valuables in your pocket or the monkeys might steal them and runaway. Overall awesome experience with great memories.

This tour was a wonderful experience with amazing landmarks. I really appreciated the fact that tour operator did not cancel the tour as I was the only person in this tour. The guide and driver were super nice and took good care of me

Very good, nice outing and very friendly and kind guide! Small suggestion: if you could plan a guide who speaks French , because we did not understand everything in the explanations , because we do not speak English very well without a translator.

We did the tour on a Monday and there were only four of us on our bus. Our guide Mr Bond introduced us to the history and background of the temples we visited in a very entertaining way. We would highly recommend the tour.

An excellent, very well-organized tour from Bangkok. Everything was smooth and professional from start to finish. The guide was knowledgeable, friendly and shared a lot of interesting historical and cultural insights along the way. The itinerary was rich and diverse — we visited many fascinating places, including beautiful ancient temples and the impressive ruins of Ayutthaya, which are truly breathtaking. One of the highlights was Lopburi and the Monkey Temple — feeding the monkeys was a unique and fun experience that you don’t forget easily. The pace of the trip was well balanced, with enough time to explore, take photos and really enjoy each location. Transportation was comfortable and the whole day felt thoughtfully planned. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Thailand who wants to see more than just Bangkok. A great way to discover history, local culture and iconic places in one day.
