Plaza De Santa Ana
Meeting Point. Important to be on time. The tour departs on time. Meet your guide in Santa Ana Square, and set off on a tapas crawl of the city, exploring the best bars that only locals really know of. As you stroll, your guide will chat to you about Madrid, the local cuisine and, of course, the tapas bars that no great evening in Madrid should be without! Like all Spanish cities, Madrid has its own regional cuisine with an emphasis on use of local ingredients. Perhaps more so than others, Madrid has been influenced by its immigrant population, who’ve brought in flavors and ideas as cosmopolitan as the city itself. Visit up to four bars on your tour of the town, enjoying wine tastings in each. Sample beautiful Spanish wines made from well-known grapes like tempranillo, malvar, garnacha, and parellada, and enjoy a complimentary tapa (tapas dish) to complement the wine's flavors. Beer and soft drinks (one per bar) are also included should you prefer this to wine! While the dishes vary on each occasion, you can be sure it’s a taste bud tingling treat! Examples of dishes include eggplant with honey, cod brandade, Spanish omelet, Iberian ham and chickpea stew. See the example itinerary for details on the different bars you may visit. Your tapas tour finishes in a centrally located bar so that you’re well-placed to continue your night out independently. ITINERARY -------------------- Bar 1: Head inside an atmospheric Castilian sherry bar, and learn all about fortified wines, from crisp and dry finos to old olorosos. Admire the chalk boards scrawled with daily tapas specials and soak up the atmosphere inside this delightfully old-fashioned bar. Bar 2: Visit a wine bar that doubles up as a store – tucked away behind liquor bottles! If you like what you eat or drink here, then purchase it from the shop to take home. Bar 3: A warm and bustling tavern welcomes you with their open kitchen were you can see how the dishes are prepared Bar 4: Round off your evening in style at a dark and bohemian Madrid tavern, which is still in business after 100 years, you will enjoying a full-bodied glass of wine. Please note that the above itinerary is an example only and may be subject to change.

We cannot stop talking about this tour! Naomi, is native and knowledgeable of her home. The places we visited, YUMMMMM! She took her time and explained the history of the restaurant and shared their specialties. I got a taste of the culinary excellence of Madrid, and also tasted vermuth for the first time. The group we were paired with also made the experience so very enjoyable. What a time! If we did not have an excursion planned, we would have rebooked this experience. 5 stars!!

We did the Madrid Tapas and Wine Tour as a family and had such a great time! Our guide, Sonja, was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole evening really fun. There was a great mix of food and drinks to try, and it was a fun way to explore the city in the evening. Even our teenagers enjoyed it—which says a lot! The garlic shrimp (gambas al ajillo) was hands-down our favorite dish, and we all loved the apple cider and cava. Sonja explained each stop and the background of what we were tasting, which made it feel both cultural and engaging. This was one of those experiences that brought the city to life in a unique way. We’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Madrid—especially if you’re looking for something that works for both adults and teens!

The tour is amazing and takes you to spots you may not otherwise try. All the food and wine was delicious, and we learned a lot about the culinary history of the area. Highly recommend!

A really great and fun experience. Our guide Ana did such a wonderful job guiding us to places, ordering us food and wine, and giving us a cultural context to the wine and tapas we were eating.

Great tour. We Would never have found these hidden places on our own Tapas and wine selections at each stop. Try the Vermouth!
