Departing from central Bergen, we sail past historic landmarks before heading through the Cityfjord, Salhusfjord and Osterfjord, where steep mountains and tranquil coves create a constantly shifting landscape. The adventure reaches its highlight in the narrow Mostraumen Channel, where the captain carefully navigates between towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls. With daily departures year-round, this is the most intimate and up-close fjord experience from Bergen—perfect for travelers seeking comfort, atmosphere and unforgettable views.

This tour will go in rain or shine. In the winter months, it can happen that the sea freezes in the innermost part of the fjord where there is a lot of fresh water mixed with the sea water, brackish water. If there is so much ice that there is no safe passage for boats, the captain will then choose an alternative route in this area. This is beyond our control and it does not give grounds for claiming a refund for the trip. We will always do our best to give our customers great experiences, even on days when the forces of nature are not easy to handle.

What To Expect

Osterfjorden is a fjord in Vestland county. The fjord is one of three fjords surrounding the island of Osterøy. The fjord runs along the municipal border of Lindås and Osterøy municipalities. The fjord begins at the Romarheimsfjorden and flows to the west for 27 kilometres (17 mi) before ending near the village of Knarvik at the confluence of four fjords: Osterfjorden, Radfjorden (to the north), Sørfjorden (to the south), and Salhusfjorden (to the west). The Osterfjorden is generally about 1 to 3 kilometres (0.62 to 1.86 mi) wide and the deepest point in the fjord reaches a depth of 639 metres (2,096 ft) below sea level

Canalized river with tidal water deep into the Osterfjord. The stream is about 600 metres long and between 50 and 60 meters wide at the most narrow place. Mostraumen was canalized (dredged) about 1913.

Nice clean boat and lovely views of the fjord. Commentary as you go and there’s a small bar on board too. Get there early to get a window seat though.

Boat is comfortable, fast moving, nice staff, but the fjords for three hours didn't do it for me. Not sure what I was expecting, but it was a lot of big rock faces. The train from Oslo to Bergen provided more scenery. Very average refreshments. Each to their own.

Beautiful trip, with spectacular scenery! Note, it is extremely cold on the top deck of the boat, so dress very warm. You can still get great view from inside the boat in the warmth.

A great tour, price fine so you can always still squeeze it in, short enough to still have more than half a day of Bergen afterward, and long enough to actually see huge Fjords. The weather was switching a ton when I went, starting with rain and nearly no visibility, thankfully that cleared up however right when we got deeper into the Fjords. Giving great views of huge Mountain peaks and beautiful waterways, and the rain even had its benefits as there were Waterfalls everywhere. The tour was very enjoyable, the only disadvantage was not getting a seat the whole trip because people kept blocking them with their Jacket for no reason so they could have a whole row for them. But no need for one anyway if you can enjoy the beautiful views outside. Definitely wear something water resist depending on the weather. The route is great and delivers way more than expected, so also bring a camera!

Its a beautiful fiord worth seeing once gives some idea of Bergens history and importance in the bygone days. See a lot of quaint villages and churches, of course the natural beauty.
