After lunch, visit one of the most famous imperial gardens-Summer Palace which is considered the model of tradinational Chinese garden art, you will know more history, more architecture art and cultural significance, understand the stories of the Dragon Lady as well. Or visit the Ming Tombs-Ding Tomb, learn Ming dynasty history and burial culture.

What To Expect

Mutianyu Great Wall

Come and travel with your experienced tour guide in the morning to visit the Mutianyu section, which is farther away from Beijing and more popular section, a stretch less crowded than the Badaling segment. It is considered as one of most famous Great Wall by the beautiful view in Beijing. Once you arrive at Mutianyu Great Wall, you can choose the return cable car or chairlift up and toboggan down the wall.

Summer Palace (Yiheyuan)

After lunch in the local restaurant nearby the wall, take approximately hour and half drive to visit the Imperial Garden - Summer Palace, a summer resort for imperial family members. It’s considered the best preserved imperial gardens in China, you can understand the stories about the dragon lady. You will be transferred back to your centrally located hotel lobby at the end.

Our tour to Mutianyu and the Ming tombs was absolutely incredible! Angela and our driver were beyond amazing — funny, kind, thoughtful, and truly attentive to every little detail. They made the whole experience smooth, comfortable, and full of laughter. Angela’s energy and enthusiasm made the history of the Great Wall come alive, and the driver was always right there when we needed him, with a smile and perfect timing. Everything was perfectly organized — from the scenic route to the breathtaking views — and we felt completely taken care of the entire time. It wasn’t just a tour, it was a perfect day with wonderful people who genuinely love what they do. Highly, highly recommended — if you’re lucky enough to get Angela and her driver, your trip will be unforgettable!

This was a trip of a lifetime. I loved that we started early and missed the crowds at the Great Wall. The tomb was very special and am glad I didn’t miss it. James was a great guide - plenty of information and brilliant at answering questions, but not too much! Very professional driver and super comfortable car. Can highly recommend the trip and Catherine Lu Tours.

The private tour was excellent! It was a personalised guided tour to both mutianyu Great Wall and the summer palace. James, the guide, was very professional and even proposed to adjust the itinerary because of the possibility of rain at the great wall in the morning and hence we adjusted the sequence by going to the summer palace first. Driver was also very safe and his driving skills did not cause us any motion sickness. Great day overall. Highly recommended.
