Versailles is WILD. Very crowded but obviously a very rare type of thing to experience. If you choose the bike option make sure to note that one, the bikes are very hard to find and they are waaaaaay at the end of the tour. So not really worth it , unless you are in the mood to bike after having already walked for a few hours.

It's summer in Paris, so huge crowds and hot sun. Some of the magic was lost fighting the swarm of people. The grounds and gardens were beautiful with ample shade. We enjoyed a very expensive, but delightful lunch in the palace, which was a much needed reprieve from the crowds. Train station directly across from the entrance was fantastic.

Gardens do take the minimum of 2 hours to walk. It was pleasant, and we could find shade for the most part. 3 fountains were “musical”. The palace was lovely, we were able to walk it in 1.5 h. It was too crowded and hot to linger in many places.

I couldn't get the audio to download so I ended up paying for the one you can rent there. Even though it was so crowded, it didn't take too long to get in with the skip the line ticket.
