This experience does not take place in a tourist kitchen, but in my private home in Palermo. It is not a show: it is real cuisine, with authentic recipes of Sicilian cuisine, local ingredients and the atmosphere of a royal family. I cooked for thirty years in restaurants on five continents, and I was also chef in TV shows on Rai 1 and other national networks. I chose to go back to the roots and open the doors of my home to those who want to experience Sicily, not just taste it. Every dish tells a story, every gesture has a value: here you cook, eat, talk, laugh. It is an experience that also nourishes memory. You will not find scripts or fiction, but spontaneity and warmth, just like at the home of a Sicilian friend. I'll teach you what you don't find in books: perfumes, slow tempos, dialect words, hands stained with dough. For a few hours, you will really immerse yourself in Sicilian culture.

What To Expect
You will have the opportunity to learn all the secrets of Sicilian cuisine from Andrea Matranga a renowned Italian chef. Together, we will prepare a seasonal Sicilian menu : we will start with an appetizer, we will continue with a first course, a second course and a dessert, which we will then enjoy together, comfortably seated in my dining room. All accompanied by an excellent local wine. The lesson will take place in my apartment, located in a residential area of Palermo. + + + IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS LESSON TAKES PLACE IN MY PRIVATE HOME. TO ENSURE YOUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF ALL (GIVEN THE USE OF PROFESSIONAL KNIVES AND FLAMES), IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN TO PRESENT YOURSELF ALREADY IN A STATE OF ALTERATION. 5.00Andrea and his lovely family hosted us for an experience beyond words. The dishes we prepared were simple and classic Sicilian “Grandmama” style. The chemistry (speaking as a scientist myself) was sound and fascinating. The whole episode rung of something written for a Hallmark movie (and there was plenty of cheese to boot). I cannot recommend this cooking experience enough to anyone wanting to share cultures, have a wonderful night and learn the culinary arts from an unopposing, kind and graceful world renowned chef.

5.00Andrea, his wife, and his daughter welcomed us to their home like we were part of the family, and we immediately felt like we were long lost friends. It wasn’t just a cooking class. It was an invitation to be part of their family for the night. There were laughs. Homemade wine. Surprise snacks. And unmatched enthusiasm for the art of Sicilian cooking. That being said, the food was unbelievable. Andrea passed down tips from his culture’s traditions and from his years as a chef all around the world — answering every question we threw at him. By the end, we had one of our favorite meals in Italy…and we had cooked it ourselves. You won’t regret booking this special experience! Thank you 🙏

5.00I went with my mom, it was just the two of us with the Chef and his lovely family. As soon as we got there they were very welcoming, we made four recipes which the Chef explained and guided us through each step so is very easy to follow and elaborate. The Chef did not only thought us how to elaborate this traditional Sicilian dishes, he also explained to us the history and nostalgia that each plate has. After we finished cooking we all sat at the table and had a family style dinner and got to try each plate, and they were absolutely delicious!! I guarantee that you will have fun, learn a lot, eat delicious authentic food and feel so welcome by the Chef and his family. A must if you are in Palermo, btw we made the best cannolos ever!! 😋

5.00I must say, aside from our wedding, this was the highlight of our three weeks spent in Italy! Andrea and his family were absolutely amazing! Andrea is a phenomenal chef and takes his time to explain not only how to prepare and cook things correctly, but also explains the importance of why we are doing things that way. The food was beyond delicious, and of course the wine and great conversations made it even better (if that is even possible)! Most importantly, we walked away feeling like family. Andrea, his daughter and wife were all so welcoming, kind, and funny. This was not only the best cooking class I have been to, but also one of the best experiences we have had. Highly recommend this to everyone!!

He shared fascinating stories about Sicilian traditions and has also given us fantastic tips for our tour of the island. 5.00We had such an amazing experience cooking with Andrea and the help of his wife taking pictures, and their daughter helping with translation. It was such a special opportunity to be welcomed into their home, cook alongside them, and learn about their culture and family traditions. The food was incredible, the wine was perfect, and the company even better. We went with friends and left feeling like part of their family. Highly recommend this unforgettable experience! And to top it all off - one of our friends forgot their coat and Andrea even brought it to our hotel the next day. Such an amazing guy!!
