Meet your master perfumer and learn the techniques and the secrets of the historical Florentine alchemy tradition. The lesson will take place in a historic, atmospheric workshop where you will learn all the secrets of the trade and where you will have the chance to make your own bespoke personal fragrance.

What To Expect

Meet your master perfumer at Antica Erboristeria San Simone and get ready for a sensory experience! The lesson will take place in a historic, atmospheric workshop dating back to 1700. In centuries of experience this historic lab has mixed the scientific knowledge of medical care together with the empirical knowledge of the healing properties of herbs, flowers and fruits. You will relive the magical atmosphere of alchemists and apothecaries residing in Florence during the Renaissance period, surrounded by unique glassware, ampules and rare essences. Following the historical footprints of Catherine de Medici and René le Florentine, your master perfumer will guide you through the process which will ultimately lead to the creation of your unique personal fragrance. At the end of the workshop you will be rewarded with a 30ml bottle of your own personalized perfume. Each participant will also receive a certificate as a memory of the day. This truly authentic experience is not to be missed.

A really beautiful experience creating our own hand crafted Perfume and learning about the history of the venue and of perfume in Florence. The staff were wonderful and we had a wide range of different options to choose from. The shop itself it beautiful too. It was really fun and interesting. I love my personal signature scent and I love that it's easy to reorder later! A really cool experience in a nice small group.

Wonderful experience!!! The history is fascinating. What a fabulous way to take a piece of Italy home and to be able to have an original scent that’s only Mine! I LOVE that they ship worldwide so I can send them my formula and get more! Absolutely a MUST-DO! Also gentlemen this is for you too. There were several me in our class. What a wonderful time my daughter and I had making our own personal scented perfume together! While I thought we would learn more about the history of perfume - I was happy to learn about base, heart, and top oil scents and how that works. We love our creations and can’t wait to see what it will smell like at 30 days. We enjoyed the other ladies at our table and it’s crazy all the variations. I would highly recommend this excursion. The two ladies were very helpful!

If you only schedule one tour in Florence, this is the one! This class was a perfect blend of instruction on how to compose a fragrance plus the hands-on creation of your perfect scent. As you sample each note, you select those that appeal to you, and the assistant provides you with input on your selections. As she places your selected notes together, you can "sample" the scent before she combines them into your perfect perfume. I was amazed that the grouping of my selected notes was so compatible, and the perfume I created was something I had always looked for but never found. The most important feature is that the fragrance store keeps your "recipe" on file for future purchases - which I will definitely order. Who knew I could become a "nose" that compiled my preferred scents into one beautiful product. Go - you will not be disappointed!

It was a great experience! Great notes and also unique ones to choose from. I have done many fragrances workshops in the world and that one will be memorable. Small please, dark and alluring with all the dry herbes, flowers and perfumes they make.

The shop at which this event was conducted was lovely, and the employee assigned to my group was gracious and helpful. But if you're thinking of attending based upon the event photo on the Viator website, you might be disappointed. It gives the impression that you will have access to multiple fragrance samples. In reality, you're seated at a table with a group and restricted to about 20 dropper vials that you may use to create your fragrance. I would have liked to sample more essential oils, so that I could be assured that I was creating something truly unique.

The actual experience was good, but I felt for the price, there should have been more in-depth. About the samples provided to make the perfume. The bottle of perfume is generous.
