What To Expect

Step back in time and explore one of ancient Greece’s greatest technological marvels — the Antikythera Mechanism, often called the world’s first computer. In this unique hands-on workshop, you’ll learn about this 2,000-year-old astronomical device and create your own simplified working model to take home. After the workshop, continue your experience with a relaxing stroll through the beautiful National Garden of Athens, a true green oasis in the heart of the city. Finally, witness the iconic changing of the guards (Evzones) in front of the Hellenic Parliament at Syntagma Square — a powerful moment of Greek tradition and pride. This complete cultural experience offers the perfect mix of creativity, history, and local color, making it ideal for families, curious travelers, and anyone looking for a unique day in Athens.

The museum is an absolute must-see -- one of the best I've visited in the last few years. It's small but packed with amazing stuff, and my guide, Dmitrios, was incredibly informative and enthusiastic! I learned an enormous amount and had lots of fun. Then I had a tour of the National Gardens with Eleni, who was wonderfully sweet and friendly. It was a really entertaining and educational afternoon, in the best way!

This tour was a great choice for myself and 11yr old son. We first had a guided tour of the museum which kept him engaged with every exhibit. His questions were answered in an easy to understand manner. Afterwards the tour included a guided tour through the nearby gardens. This was also great. The guide gave us a lot of history about Athens and was able to answer any questions we had. She also was able to adapt the tour to our interests and ages.

This was a fantastic and very informative tour! Anyone interested in the history of science, technology and knowledge will enjoy this a lot. The elements of Air, Water, etc., were not just philosophical abstracts but principles to be understood and manipulated through physics to great effect! Our tour guide Eva was especially enthusiastic and wonderful.
