Rosslyn Chapel
Our first stop is Rosslyn Chapel. Scotland’s ‘best-kept secret’ has now achieved worldwide fame since the publication of ‘The Da Vinci Code’. An architectural gem, its superb stone carvings are still not fully understood. Further mystery surrounds the chapel and its association with the Knights Templar and Freemasonry. Many visitors leave with their own theory but all are amazed. The short walk through the glen to ancient Roslin Castle is also fascinating.
Melrose Abbey
Enjoy lunch in the charming town of Melrose. The stunning ruined Abbey is the final resting place of King Robert the Bruce’s heart.

Fantastic! Callum was a wonderful guide. The whole trip, with stops at Rosslyn Chapel and Melrose Abbey, along with Hadrian's Wall was Brilliant!

Angela was the guide, and she gave very detailed information on the flow of the day and what stops to utilize for food or restrooms. She made the tour great fun and was very informative. She even curated a playlist for each part of the tour to give the full experience of the border region and Hadrian’s wall.

Driver/guide was very knowledgeable and had a lot of good stories about the place we past on the road, and places we went. I really enjoyed the tour to Rosslyn Chapel and Hadrian’s Wall

Took my 82-year old mother-in-law on the Rosslyn/Wall tour as part of a holiday in Edinburgh. The company provided excellent communication, especially when their website seemed to have disappeared the day before the scheduled tour because of some technical issues. I've been to all the main Wall sites before, but not to Rosslyn or Melrose, and found both impressive, the former especially. M-i-L enjoyed herself tremendously and learned a great deal. Angela is a splendid tour guide, keeping up a steady patter that was never overwhelming and did a good job of accommodating non-native English speakers, as well as both American and British speakers. The drive was lovely and smooth, and the historical content of the narration was accessible to all, I think. I lecture on ancient history for a living and have written several books on Roman history, so was expecting the usual mix of anecdote, fantasy, error, and a bit of actual history that one gets on most tours. Instead, I can say that Angela gave far and away the most accurate and reliable account of this sort that I’ve ever experienced from a guide aiming for a general audience. (The couple of slips in emperor's names were entirely trivial and the substance of the narrative -- also the medieval narrative -- was just excellent.) All told, a real success and I'd highly recommend Heart of Scotland for both quality of service, quality of the bus accommodation, and superior accuracy of the guide's narrative.

We had a wonderful tour of Rosslyn Chapel, the Borders and Hadrian's Wall with our tour guide Mike. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and made the tour fun and informative. Our party was four seniors and we were scheduled to go to the Homestead fort but when we explained that not all of us would be able to make the half mile walk uphill to the fort he quickly changed the tour to the Chester fort which is much easier to access. I highly recommend Heart of Scotland Tour (and Mike) for anyone looking for tours out of Edinburgh

This trip does not accommodate hearing impairment (not deafness). The speakers are not available unless the van is moving. Directions and important information are given at a stop, without speakers and mic.

Seeing Rosslyn Chapel and Hadrians walk was amazing. However, Angela’s knowledge, stories and curated music really made the trip!
