You will absolutely love San José after this experience. Guided by young biologists you will discover nature hiding in the middle of Costa Rica's largest city. You will get to experience with all your senses, wildlife you wouldn't have imagined existed minutes away from downtown. We are an organization called Oropopo Experience, looking to change the way tourism is done in Costa Rica while supporting young scientists, researchers, and local entrepreneurs.

Additional notes:

** From May to November we recommend booking the morning slot, however, afternoons are also great.

• The only San Jose walking nature tour.

• Explore one of the last green patches inside the city on foot with a local biologist.

• See, smell, taste, touch, and listen to nature.

• Find colorful birds, edible plants, and a wild sloth population on campus.

If seeing a sloth in its own environment is something on your bucket list this is an excellent way to check that off the list. We saw both 2 toed and 3 toed sloths on this adventure. Our guide Raquel was wonderful, she is so passionate about animals and their natural environment. We consider ourselves very fortunate, the day we visited 3 of the 4 sloths we spotted were very active, feeding, climbing and occasionally just scratching or grooming their fur. If ever I am I San Jose again I would love to do this tour again.

It was an amazing trip in San Jose, it was nice to witness such wide wildlife in city parameters. Our tour was led by Ismail and he was such a great guide. Tour went at good pace and Ismail made all efforts to show us max wildlife possible. But best thing was his communication & his intent of teaching his customers about the protection of nature. He was totally awesome Much recommended tour as it's very different from other city tours and you can get closer to nature without going out of city

There are no restrooms but our guide Luis was very knowledgeable and friendly and helpful! It was great to Have his telescope to see things with a better view.

Wonderful informative tour. We saw a sloth and many birds. Our guide was fabulous and everything was organized and well run. We did see a sloth and our guide helped us take a picture with his telescope.

I was very surprised at the wildlife in the UCR campus! I saw more sloths during this day trip than I did my entire two weeks in Costa Rica.
