What To Expect
Puntarenas
We will travel from San José to Puntarenas where we will board our boat to visit Tortuga Island.
Puntarenas
We will do a dolphin watching during the tour and you will also be able to observe the islands that make up the Gulf of Nicoya while we travel to Isla Tortuga.

Duration: 14 hours: This tour can last from +12 or +14 hours, depending on traffic on route. You will be back between 7-8 pm.

Marine Species Sightings: It is possible to see animals such as dolphins, turtles and monkeys during the tour.

From the admission fee, the length of the day, crowd size, other group members, weather, and our tour guide, Percy, the day couldn’t have been more perfect! Percy was one of the most charismatic and personable tour guides I’ve ever met! I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for something to do during their time in Costa Rica.

5.00Breathtaking boat ride to the island! We saw dolphins! Pretty cool experience! Snorkeling was a short ride off the coast by 2 small islands super beautiful a lot of exotic fishes. The guide was fun and informative. The food was great. The experience and views magical! Pura Vida !

5.00We really felt like we got our money's worth out of this experience. The staff were all great, the boat ride to the island was scenic, and the island itself was gorgeous. We saw some fun wildlife both at the boat dock on the mainland and on the island. It might be more crowded during the high season but it wasn't too much so when we were there in late November. They were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions with the included lunch, which I appreciated. There are just two caveats I would recommend anyone know before booking. First, the tour starts EARLY - for the two pickup spots offered for our tour, the pickup times were 4:30am and 5am. You can catch up on sleep on the bus ride to the coast though if you're able to sleep on buses. Second caveat, there are a bunch of pickup and drop-off spots listed on the tour page, but they may not all be available on a given day. We had requested the pickup spot they had listed that was right by our hotel, which they initially said was great, but the night before they let us know they wouldn't actually be able to pick us up there and we had to go to a hotel that was a 15 minute drive away to be picked up. So just know that you may need to arrange transportation (and it may be last-minute) to a pickup spot that's a bit of a drive away. I would make sure anyone I told about this tour was aware of those two factors, but given that I would still recommend the tour to anyone. We had a great time.
