This was a perfect tour to get a feel for Kanazawa and then point you in the direction of things you might like to look into later. The food was delicious and our guide, Saya, was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to

This was a nice paced introductory tour being guided through the Omicho market and into the Higashi Chaya region. Our wonderful guide, Kenzo selected some regional foods for us to try in the Omicho market (great selection Kenzo) and we even got to try some Fugu (puffer fish). Along the way we learned a little history and some geography. We finished in Higashi Chaya which allowed us some time to explore on our own. I was hoping to try some of the local crab and thought we would be making our own selections but I understand why this would be too difficult for the guide to manage several different people all on their own shopping spree. Definitely start your Kanazawa trip here as it will help you to learn what you will search for in the restaurants during your stay.

This morning we met with Ian, next to the Mister donut, easy meeting point and start of the tour, we quickly enter the market and get a look around the different food available there, Ian is really insightful and makes it really enjoyable! We tried different sashimi and some delicious pork, we continue our trip to the Geisha district and again Ian gives us plenty of detail about the history of the place. We finished by a gold leaf producer, really nice cherry on the top of this tour ! Thank you Ian for this great moment 😄

Saya was the best!! She showed us so much around Kanazawa, so much more than we had expected. First stop we had a lot of fresh sashimi and good food at the Omicho market, and then a quick snack on the way to the Historic Chaya district, where Saya shared a lot of history about the geisha tradition and also the Shinto religion. We had a lot of fun and regret that we didn’t do this T the start of our trip in Kanazawa so we know what to eat for the rest of our time here!

Very good food tour. We had very generous portions of food at the market and it was great to try such a wide variety of local food. Kensington provided a fun and interesting tour.

Even though it is crowded, the walk through the market slows you down and gets you thinking about what you are seeing. The Gion district needs explanation so that you understand the history, customs and the need (as tourists) to display respect. Our guide Saya was able to provide a useful narrative as we transitioned from different quarters and features. The tasting in the market was generous though a plate would have been useful.
