The tour was pretty customized to what we wanted to do and liked. A little bit of history and trivia thrown in, too.

Totally disappointed. Did not live up to the billing at all! We had three (3!) stops, only two of which had food. Our last stop was a small part of a cold pie from Greggs - if you're American think 7-11 - and broken candy from the guides bag. It started well at the first pub with suggested drinks and hot Scottish food, but was just wandering without food or drinks. We had to suggest the 2nd stop since it didn't appear to be planned in advance at all. Our guide was super pleasant and tried his best but needed an itinerary. In the end, I felt completely ripped off. Eating a cold pie on a bench outside was NOT what I paid this much money for.

The Storytelling was a brilliant way to enjoy a meal. Best haggis I've ever eaten, and the deep fried pizza was quite a fun experience.

I really struggled with how many stars to give this tour, because I do not like giving bad reviews, but feel like this is an opportunity to warn other folks. We are frequent travelers and have taken advantage of many food tours including: Rome, Florence, Venice, Athens, Lisbon, and Palermo. We love to experience local foods and culture, picking up some ideas for good restaurants for our stay in different cities. Honestly, this tour in Edinburgh was the worst in terms of food. As many of the reviewers have stated, the title ("10 tastings") is very misleading. In addition, the food that was offered was what we would call fast food or take-away, leaving the impression that there is no other food worthy of tasting in Edinburgh. Not true! We even did a "street food" tour in Palermo. It was somewhat of the same type of food, but there was so much more of it along with beer and wine and was advertised as such. We agree that Alec was a terrific story teller and we learned a great deal of local history from him. However, we had a city tour planned the next day (as we told him) and much of the information was repetitive. We tasted a bit of candy at our first stop, then 3 meat pies and a mac & cheese pie topped off with some very sweet soda at our second stop. Last, but not least was deep fried pizza and chips at our last stop (Honestly?). The evening tour began at 5pm and being that it was very cool, we would have appreciated sitting in a warm pub or restaurant to taste similar food. The eateries were at very small take-away shops that were extremely limited in seating. This tour was expensive for what we received in return. We really felt that aside from Alec's stories and knowledge that it was a total rip-off.
