Tour drivers are not licensed to companion you inside the archaeological sites and museums. If you'd like to have one, we can arrange it for you at an additional cost. Licensed by the state tour guides are freelance and it is subject to availability on bookings day!
Athens International Airport taxi transfers can be arranged on request at an extra cost!

What To Expect
Piraeus
Pick up from your cruise ship pier at Piraeus port. We will drive along the coastal road of Saronic Gulf to enjoy the Piraeus and Athens riviera. The Port of Piraeus is the chief seaport of Athens, Greece, located on the Saronic Gulf on the western coasts of the Aegean Sea. Piraeus port is the largest port in Greece, home to Europe's biggest passenger port, and as such is a huge draw for cruise ships from around the world bringing tourists eager to explore this centuries-old city, and one of the largest in Europe. But yet another major draw is the fact that it's easy to visit Athens because it's located nearby. The Greek capital city of Athens is just 12 kilometers or 7 miles from Piraeus port. We will drive directly to the Acropolis to admire the Temple of Democracy!
Acropolis
The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens, and its monuments are universal symbols of the classical spirit and civilization and form the greatest architectural and artistic complex bequeathed by Greek Antiquity to the world. In the second half of the 5th-century bc, Athens, following the victory against the Persians and the establishment of democracy, took a leading position amongst the other city-states of the ancient world. In the age that followed, as thought and art flourished, an exceptional group of artists put into effect the ambitious plans of Athenian statesman Pericles and, under the inspired guidance of the sculptor Pheidias, transformed the rocky hill into a unique monument of thought and the arts. The most important monuments were built during that time: the Parthenon, built by Ictinus, the Erechtheon, the Propylaea, the monumental entrance to the Acropolis, designed by Mnesicles, and the small temple Athena Nike.

5.00This was a very good tour; covered all the highlights. Unfortunately for us, it started raining quite hard when we got to the Plaka, so we opted out of exploring that on foot. But our guide did drive us around there, so we could see it.

5.00Our driver & tour guide Alex, was so knowledgeable, always on-time, helpful, so accommodating and patient with our group of 7 retired ladies. He provided so much insight, took us to a family-owned local Greek restaurant that was exceptionally good, and made sure we had great access to all the unique ancient must-see landmarks. We even saw the Prime Minister’s Palace as it was lined with military guards in traditional Greek dress as the band played, getting ready to greet foreign diplomats! We saw the Parliament Building as the Changing of the Guard occurred. We shopped, dined, hiked thru incredible ruins, enjoyed spectacular views, and learned so much. Thank you for a memorable experience!

5.00This was an amazing private tour with an amazing guide. Our guide Andreas made the tour special and personalized for us. He gave us plenty of time at each location and was very flexible if we wanted more or less time at any stop. Go us back to our cruise ship right on time. We highly recommend the tour and if you should request Andreas as your guide.
Great tour guide and driver but poor backend service. Booked us at the Acropolis at the hottest time of the day.

3.00We did the photography 8h shore excursion in Athens. Firstly, the tour guide was really good and brought us to many of the good photo sites away from the crowds. We had a good tour in general, except that they booked our Acropolis tickets for 1pm. I would have expected them to book the tickets for the very first entry given that the tour started at 7.30am. As a result, we visited in the heat of the day and it was extremely difficult and uncomfortable for us with a 3 year old. We only managed to spend about 1 hour at the Acropolis because of the heat, even though the guide was booked for 2 hours. They were not very responsive to email and took several days for each reply during the planning phase of this trip. When contacted about the midday Acropolis tickets, my texts and emails were completely ignored.

5.00Tour is a great way to see the highlights of Athens in a day! I highly recommend Athens Tours Greece - very professional and responsive. Nic and Demetra were wonderful drivers and guides. Also recommend you have them prepurchase your entry tickets - so much easier. It may seem expensive but it is worth every penny!
