Le Petit Trianon
Millions of visitors come each year to marvel at the glory the Palace of Versailles, miss the beautiful private domain of Queen Marie-Antoinette. Distance the crowds and access areas reserved for the private lives and loves of the royalty. With a diamond-encrusted key, Louis XVI offered his beloved wife Marie Antoinette an escape from the ritualized public life she found so suffocating in the Palace. This key unlocked the small Petit Trianon palace, sheltered from gossip and criticism, where she could feel free to be herself. Follow in her footsteps, through her English gardens and into the place she called home. The furniture and decoration authentically represents the queen’s own taste and favored craftsmen. You won’t forget Marie Antoinette’s private theatre, a hidden jewel of Versailles, installed so the queen herself could star in popular plays applauded by her fashionable ladies-in-waiting!
Le Hameau De La Reine
Just down the path from the richly adorned palace, Marie Antoinette commissioned a replica rustic village, evoking Normandy with its thatched cottages and dairy herd. Here she appreciated the informal atmosphere and healthy air, and indulged in pastoral amusements with her closest friends and confidantes. We'll also explore her beautiful, landscaped English gardens as we make our way from the Petit Trianon to her hamlet. This hidden paradise is a world away from the crowds at the palace nearby. Make the most of your visit and spend an enchanting afternoon in the private world of Marie Antoinette. Please note we will use the 'Petit Train' to take us back from the Petit Trianon, to ensure your visit is comfortable and to reduce the amount of walking. From the drop off at the Palace it is just a short walk back to the RER train station for your direct train back to Paris.

This tour has a lot of walking. Tour guide was a great young lady but I did not learn anything new not sure if it was her or there isn’t much to tell. Just FYI we had a behind the scenes private area tour in the morning (which I highly recommend) then this tour in the afternoon. Make sure you have garden access in your itinerary as the walk from the front to the back without it is miles! The ticket states this but my morning tour company stated we had garden access. This was not recognized by staff so the Versailles staff gave us a map out and around to the Queens gate which looks close on a map (not to scale) like doing a 5k. I state this because that combined with all the other walking is a lot 22000 steps that day! I have taken many Viator tours and this was my least favorite. (Maybe I was tired and maybe the tour guide was not seasoned enough yet). Viator was not in any way responsible for my experience so far I have had all great experiences with them

you can probably do this tour on your own w/the audio-guide - and go at your own pace - otherwise it was a very nice tour guide :)

We really enjoyed our afternoon tour! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about Marie Antoinette, royal life, and had very interesting information to share. We weren't sure at first where to exactly meet our tour guide, but we got a follow up call from an agent and was able to find our guide at the correct meeting location. Thank you for the tour! We definitely recommend this Queen's Hamlet and Trianon afternoon tour to those who will be spending a whole day at Château de Versailles.
