What To Expect
Krems an der Donau
The first stop on our cozy journey will be in 1 hour from Vienna, Krems-an-der-Donau. A medieval trading town that was an important place at the intersection of trade routes from East to West along the Danube. That's why it was called the Wachau Gate. Thanks to this, winemaking began to develop in the city in Ancient Roman times. We will visit a local wine producer, the family has owned vineyards since the 18th century. During our walk, we will visit wine cellars and learn the secret of wine production on Austrian soil, and taste 3 samples of wine.
Durnstein
From Krems the village road will take us to the next point on this stretch of the waterway, the town of Durnstein. A small but significant place due to its location, a rich abbey, which can still be seen today, as well as a medieval fortress. According to legend, one of the prisoners of this fortress was Richard the Lionheart. We will walk through the narrow streets of the town and admire the view of the ruins of the fortress on the hill above the city.

5.00This is an amazing private tour with rich historical background of the places we're visiting provided by Jenny on the drive towards Wachau Valley. The car was spacious and comfortable, driven by Vladimir, Jenny's spouse. Both of them are very fluent in English and very easy to talk to. The trip was well spaced and very organised. Highlight of the tour would be the Heuriger Rinner, where we had our lunch. Great food, excellent wine/brandy and great people. Had a good time and what a gem of an experience. This is a great introduction to Wachau Valley and I highly recommend Cozy Travel.
