Rynek Underground
The Krakow Undergrounds Museum on the Market Square, opened in 2010, is a kind of archaeological park where you can observe pictures of the life of a large, bustling medieval city. With the help of modern technology, the authors of the project created the ideal illusion of a lively medieval city. At a depth of several metres below the surface of the Main Market Square, from the Cloth Hall to St Mary’s Church, awaits a true treasure trove of information on Kraków’s past. In 4000-square-meters underground there are streets and stands of thousands years old, and there is atmosphere of the market square - you can hear merchants talking and carts creaking. Scales, coins, clothes, jeweleries and even human remains - all the artefacts were found during the excavations. Walk into the depths of Krakow on a 1.5-hour guided tour of Rynek Underground Museum accompanied by a professional English-speaking guide, and discover the medieval market stalls and the city’s rich history.

Beautiful castle and cathedral. Helena gave a detailed history of Krakow. Lunch was part of our trip and was in a local polish restaurant, which was lovely. Helena was also our tour guide for Rynek underground. Again this was interesting with a detailed history given.

We were very impressed with the whole tour. Not only was the organization great, but the guides were all extremely nice and showed us how they love their city. We were a small group of 5 and 5 4 people and felt comfortable and very well informed. Very happy to come back!

We met our guide Ava at St. Mary Magdalene Square and walked about 6 minutes to the Castle gate. The tour of the royal cathedral and then the apartments and the history she taught us was fascinating. (Our ticket included the Royal Treasury which we did on our own another day).Johanna met us there and walked with us to our lunch destination Kuchnia u Doroty, which was so delicious and authentic. My advice is to split 2 different entrees! Then she came back for us and walked us to the Cloth Hall where we entered the underground story and remains of the city of Krakow. Wonderful day!!
