Etretat was a popular spot in the past for impressionist artists including Claude Monet, the founder of French Impressionist painting. Today it is a classic seaside resort nestled between two sets of chalk cliffs. You can walk on the beach or climb for excellent views. Along the seafront, there are many restaurants/cafés all of which do variations on a theme of Moules/Frites. Free time. 12:00 Departure Honfleur. It takes about one hour drive.
Honfleur
12:45 - 14:45 Arrival in Honfleur. The walking city tour takes about 1 hour. Walking tour of Honfleur with its famous port. Honfleur, the main defensive port of Normandy of the XV century, transformed into a charming resort town with a picturesque Bay, much-loved by the artists of the XIX century. Honfleur was first mentioned in 1027, when it belonged to the Norman Duke Richard III. The owners of the city changed several times during The Hundred-Years War. In the XV century, there were French pirates, corsairs who ravaged the English coast. A little later, in the XVII-XVIII centuries, the city became significantly rich in trade with the American colonies. After the port was closed, the city's economy declined and Honfleur became a suburb of Le Havre. Today it is one of the most known tourist cities in Normandy. 13:45 - 14:45 Free time for Lunch. 14:45 Departure from Honfleur to Collville-sur-Mer. It takes 1,15 hours (110 km).
Normandy American Cemetery
16:00 - 17:15 Arrival and Visit to the Normandy American Cemetery & Visitor Center, located in Colleville-sur-Mer and overlooking Omaha Beach. It contains 9,387 U.S. soldiers, most of whom were killed during the Normandy Landings and the Wall of the Missing with the names of 1,557 soldiers missing in action. The cliffs leading down to the beaches contain the remnants of the German defences, including concrete casemates with memorials to the soldiers. At Normandy American Cemetery you’ll see as well the semicircular memorial colonnade with the sculpture “Spirit of American Youth Rising from the Waves” and large maps of military operations. At the Visitors Center You will find a very nice small Museum with a lot of informations about Battle of Normandy. 17:15 Departure to the close located Overlord Museum.

This 2 day experience was so wonderful in many ways! We saw many beautiful and historic sites-quaint small villages, museums, the Normandy beaches and of course, miles of gorgeous French countryside. Then there was Cyrus, our guide. He was committed to making our experience just what we wanted it to be! He was a wealth of knowledge about historical events but also the French way of life. He patiently answered so many of our naive questions and didn't rush us at any stop. He also helped us interact with the local people, explaining customs that, as Americans, we didn't know. In the end, we felt like we were leaving a friend behind! It was a great experience and we still talk about different aspects of that trip! We are hoping to book with Cyrus to Bruge, Belgium in the future!

Clewel Travel is unprofessional. They did not provide the service promised. First it was suppose to be English Speaking. He was not! Second - They mixed up the tour we were suppose to do with another one. When we told them this was not on our tour their solution was to compromise the complete tour. We paid up front and traveled thousands of miles to see the sites promised and they expected us to be happy with the compromise because it was better than nothing at all. They provided 2 out of the 7 places. Our charge was over $3,000 for 2 people and when we asked for a refund they offered $200 Last - Viator will not be in your corner. They advertise that they vet each tour company but they don't because even after being informed about this situation this same tour company still has this service listed on Viators website.

The drive thru Loire Valley was was lovely and the Chateaus exceeded my expectations. Our guide and driver were friendly, organized and competent. MSM was especially wonderful and we enjoyed having our guide be able to join us on that tour. Hotel was immaculate with a great breakfast, would love to have been able to preorder dinner at the hotel. Well worth the money though the brandy tasting was clearly a 'commercial' stop. Be nice if that could be adjusted for the smaller groups.
