This tour has the flexibility to make the most of the seasonal changes such as changes in weather and conditions. During the summer Iceland is characterized by energizing bright nights and midnight sun. Between August and May, if the forecast is suitable, you might even be able to spot the magical show put on by the Northern Lights. It is important to note that a guided Northern Lights hunt is however not included in the tour. Other wonderful and interesting possibilities can also come up during your south coast tour with us as Iceland is full of surprises.
We use a couple of different ice caves for our 3 Day Golden Circle & South Coast tour. Ice caves are ever-changing and unpredictable natural phenomena. We usually visit the Crystal Cave at Breiðmerkurjökull during this tour but when the Crystal Cave is inaccessible we will most likely visit Katla Ice Cave. Which ice cave is chosen will however always depend upon the conditions and safety considerations on the day, sometimes a different ice cave will be visited. If conditions do not allow us to visit an ice cave a glacier hike will be offered as an alternative.

Thingvellir
Explore Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can walk between the diverging North American and Eurasian tectonic plates beneath towering cliffs. This remarkable site is also home to the world’s oldest still-functioning parliament, established in 930 CE, offering a powerful blend of natural wonder and historic significance.
Geysir
Next, explore the Geysir Geothermal Area, the namesake of all geysers. While the original Geysir is now dormant, nearby Strokkur puts on a spectacular show, erupting every few minutes and shooting boiling water up to 25 meters into the air. This geothermal hotspot is a true highlight of Iceland’s volcanic landscape.
Gullfoss
Finally, visit Gullfoss—“the Golden Falls”—one of Iceland’s most iconic and beloved waterfalls. Here, the mighty Hvítá River plunges in two dramatic stages into a rugged canyon, creating a thunderous roar and a mist that often catches the sunlight in golden hues. It's a breathtaking display of nature’s raw power and beauty.
Kirkjubaejarklaustur
After exploring the Golden Circle, you'll travel south to your hotel near the quaint town of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. This peaceful location is an ideal spot to look out for the mesmerizing Northern Lights—if the skies are clear and luck is on your side. Be sure to keep watch; you might just catch nature’s most magical light show.
Your accommodation for the night will be at the same hotel – Adventure Hotel Geirland.
BREAKFAST
Breakfast
Glacier Lagoon
In the morning, you’ll head east to the stunning Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and the nearby Diamond Beach. At the lagoon, icebergs of all shapes and sizes drift gracefully toward the Atlantic Ocean, creating a surreal and ever-changing landscape. Their striking colors—ranging from deep blue to crystal white—are the result of compressed glacial ice and natural light refraction.
Fellsfjara
At Diamond Beach, you'll see icebergs that have washed ashore, sparkling like diamonds against the black volcanic sand. As sunlight hits the ice, it creates a dazzling display of bright blue tones that make for an unforgettable walk along the coast. Keep an eye out for ocean birds—and with a bit of luck, you might even spot a curious seal playing in the waves.
Skaftafell National Park
From Jökulsárlón, head to Skaftafell Nature Reserve for a glacier hike led by a certified guide on Vatnajökull Glacier. Then, explore a natural ice cave, where you can photograph the stunning blue light filtering through the ice. Your guide will explain how these formations are created. The cave visited depends on conditions, with about two hours spent on the glacier and cave combined. This tour suits those comfortable walking on easy terrain. Remember to dress warmly, as temperatures inside the cave are well below freezing.
BREAKFAST
Breakfast
Fjadrargljufur Canyon
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll begin a relaxed drive back toward Reykjavik with several stops along the way. If road conditions allow, the day starts with a quick detour to the stunning Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon.
Eldhraun Lava Field
You’ll first explore the iconic Eldhraun lava field, a vast and dramatic landscape formed by ancient volcanic eruptions. Then, continue on to the striking Reynisfjara black sand beach, known for its powerful waves and basalt columns.
Reynisfjara Beach
The powerful waves of the Atlantic Ocean crash dramatically onto the black sand beach, creating a stunning and unforgettable sight. Be cautious—these waves can be unpredictable, so always follow your tour guide’s safety instructions.
Skogafoss
Skógafoss is a stunning waterfall that plunges 60 meters into a peaceful pool below. Climb the 527 steps to the top for breathtaking panoramic views. On clear days, you’ll also catch a glimpse of the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano towering above the falls.
Volcano Hekla
On clear days, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of Mount Hekla as you travel toward Seljalandsfoss. This iconic volcano adds a dramatic backdrop to the scenic journey ahead.
Seljalandsfoss
This waterfall is one of the most unique in the world, offering the rare opportunity to walk behind the cascading water. Experience breathtaking views from both behind and in front of the falls.
Reykjavik
After your final visit to Seljalandsfoss, your 3-day South Coast tour concludes as you travel back to Reykjavík. You’ll arrive between 16:00 and 19:00 depending on road and weather conditions.
This option includes a shared room. Please note that if you are a solo traveler and do not choose the single room option then you will be sharing a room with a participant of the same gender.

Amazing experience, I recommend 100%! And our guide Thor Olfur was the best! The activities were great, and the hotel had great food and experience of sleeping on the golden circle.

I absolutely enjoyed my trip! Pick ups were on time, busses were comfortable and clean. We had a group of 12 people and our guide Lili was great: professional, knowledgeable, helpful and most of all fun. We visited everything that was on the itinerary, had some good food along the way and heard all about trolls and other legends. We stayed in the hotel on the south coast along the way for two nights and were able to see the most incredible northern lights. Overall, o would recommend this trip, especially if you are traveling solo!

LOVED Diamond Beach and ALL of the waterfalls ( I lost count of all of the little ones) and the geysers and the black sand beach (which was still beautiful even though we could walk on it much because the waves were so high). SO much to see and even the bus ride was pretty. Our group was small and made up of people from all over--2 big plusses. Our main guide Kacper was skilled and knowledgeable. He knew ins and out and the best place to get brownies and fun things like that. I just wish he was a little bit more vocal about the plan for the day before that day so we could plan better (like when to have waterproof clothes at the ready and why). But, to his credit, he was always trying to do extra things. The unexpected joy was the Glacier Hike. The glacier itself was phenomenal and being in an Ice cave and walking in a crevasse was exhilarating and beautiful! Jan, our guide for the hike, was enthusiastic and kind. I was a bit concerned (being an older person with a bad knee) but we made it and it was worth it (and Jan helped). Tips: drink a lot of water--it really IS different there, try something new (like rye bread ice cream) and patience does pay. We went out on two special outings to look for the Northern Lights--each time they didn't appear until we waited for about an hour but they were worth the wait (and the best ones were actually in Reykjavik!)--but there is definitely more to see there--don't just go for the lights!

Our Arctic Adventure tour in Iceland was absolutely incredible - packed with exciting activities, breathtaking scenery, and all the natural wonders this amazing country has to offer. Our main guide, Siggi, was fantastic from start to finish. He gave us great overviews during the bus rides and kept us on schedule without ever feeling rushed. One of the absolute highlights was our glacier hike with Jan. He was an exceptional guide- knowledgeable, patient, and clearly passionate about what he does. He kept us safe, explained the fascinating glacier formations, and gave us the chance to explore ice caves and canyons. We also loved staying at the Arctic Adventure Hotel - it’s beautifully designed for travelers and felt like the perfect base for our Icelandic journey. Every single person we met from Arctic Adventures was friendly, professional, and genuinely eager to make sure we had the best experience possible. I would highly, highly recommend this tour to anyone considering a trip to Iceland. It’s the perfect blend of adventure, learning, and fun. We’re already dreaming about coming back in the summertime to do another more tour. Thank you to everyone at Arctic Adventures for an unforgettable trip!

Iceland was beyond belief as a holiday experience, it was the holiday that kept on giving & Krzysztof as a tour guide went above and beyond to make our experience the utmost it could be. Around every corner on the tour was another scenic experience, and Krzysztof, who expertly drove us around those corners was full of enthusiasm, information & humour to show us the country he loves at its best. The road conditions were difficult at times but we felt comfortable & safe in Krzysztof‘s care. I would highly recommend this holiday, and hope for your sake you are lucky enough to get Krzysztof as your guide- he says he hasn’t met a grumpy guide yet and everyone else is as good, but he would say that, as he’s so lovely.

Initially we (group of 4 in our 30s) were very skeptical of taking this tour (3 day golden circle and south coast tour). We weren't sure if we'd have enough time at the different locations, how the hotel would be, the rest of the group, etc. We were so pleasantly surprised! Besides our first stop (Þingvellir tectonic plate area, could have used more time) we felt we had just the right amount of time at all of the stops. Our guide, Kris, was amazing and kept a great pace. He was very informative and we got so much more out of the drive than we would have if we drove ourselves. Plus we were able to just look at all the amazing scenery and get delivered to the next location without having to think. The hotel was better than we expected and we were able to see the northern lights both nights! The glacier day was definitely our favorite day, Jan was our guide and he was so much fun and we felt comfortable and safe the entire time. Diamond Beach and all the waterfalls were super cool as well. I'd 100% recommend this tour to anyone going to Iceland (especially if you're not keen on renting a car)

I had a great experience on this tour. Our guide, Oskar, really went out of his way to show us stops along the route that were in addition to the itinerary and shared his experiences growing up in Iceland. We got some insight into the local culture as well as sightseeing. Be aware that the glacier hike and ice cave exploration is really fun, but also a long day.

Fantastic tour. Our guide Christophe was excellent, very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He really made everyone feel welcome and that we were part of a family. He had lots of great stories about Iceland and the local history. The tour was amazing and we got to see a huge amount of places in our trip. The tour was very well planned out and we felt like we had enough time everywhere without feeling rushed. Christophe kept us well informed during the whole trip so we knew what we were doing next and how long we would be travelling for between each stop. If you want to see some amazing natural landscape then we would definitely recommend this trip. Paul and Frances
