What a delight to get out of urban Rome and into the pleasing green spaces of metropolitan rural! My traveling companion, Steve, a neighbor and friend, and I were pleased to have added this tour to the otherwise hectic confines of Rome's spectacular but harried and crowded sites. We were the only two on the tour. Flavio, our guide was knowledgeable about Roman history and stopped many times along our route to describe what we saw and place the sites into historical perspective. He knew his history well, answered questions cheerfully and stopped at my request when I wished to take pictures. I would have given the tour a full five stars save for a couple of difficulties. My biking partner and I, both mid-70s in age, reasonably athletic and fit males, had never been on E-bikes and would have profited from something more than the minimal introduction and instruction on these bikes. The tour started on a quiet and peaceful non-traffic street. A few trips up and down this street would have helped our understanding of the gearing, speeds and weight. Flavio provided little more than encouragement as we fumbled our way to familiarity. As we set off, he encouraged us to follow the track of his bike carefully so we would not have trouble with the tricky cobbles and ruts in the road. Sadly, shortly after we departed, Flavio swerved from the street onto a very narrow sidewalk between the road and a rock wall. I feared I was going to strike the wall and tumble into traffic but held the course. We rounded a bend and stopped several hundred yards ahead at an intersection. It was there that we realized that Steve was not with us. After several minutes he appeared somewhat worse from wear and told us that he had crashed into the wall that almost claimed me. He recounted that he fell violently from the bike into traffic and had badly hit his head and shoulder on the wall. Fortunately, a passing motorist stopped to help him get up and assisted him on his way. Neither Falvio nor I saw this happen because we were far ahead of him. I feel this incident could have been avoided if we had not swerved onto the very narrow section of walkway bounded by the wall and we had been moving at a slower rate of speed so as not to have lost sight of each other. There were only two of us on this tour. I hope larger groups might be provided with a tour guide at the front and at the back to ensure that unseen difficulties do not occur. I realize this would not be economically possible for the tour company with a group as small of ours. All ended well, we enjoyed immensely the rest of the day, and returned agreeing that the Appian Way tour was a highlight of our trip. I would recommend this trip to others but suggest that E-bike knowledge or instruction would be helpful and that extreme caution is necessary in heavily traffic areas.

We loved this bike tour! Our guide Marco was incredibly hospitable and friendly. The tour was just us, Marco, and his nephew, which was great! We loved seeing a different side of Rome and Marco taught us a lot about Roman history the aqueducts. We really had a lot of fun with our small group. This tour is not super easy though. When it says you must be a good biker, they aren’t kidding. It was not a problem for us, but we were all a little sore the next day! Keeps us humble and we just laugh at ourselves. So thank you Marco for an unforgettable tour!

This was the most unique and fantastic experience that I've done in Rome! It was so fun, and the views were amazing. The history that we learned was great, and we loved the catacombs and lunch as well. One thing I think people should know is that you should not be a beginner when it comes to riding a bike. There are some times that you are on the street to the right of traffic, and you will need to be able to navigate that. There are also times when you are on very narrow dirt paths and want to have good control of the bike. My 10-year-old son and my parents came and loved the experience as well! You just need to hang good control of a bike. Two people in our group had a fall, One of which did result in a good amount of blood and some cuts, but our guide had Band-Aids and ways to take care of it in the moment, and they offered a ride back in a vehicle if needed. It wasn't needed, and everyone continued on the bike tour and it was fine. (The people who fell still thoroughly enjoyed themselves) All in all, this is something that everyone who is not a beginner bike rider should do!

Did the 5 hour tour with my teenage son. We both loved it. After a few days in the busy and bustling city center, getting out into beautiful parks and scenery was perfect. Biking along the Appian Way and through the park of the Aqueducts were incredible, catacombs were cool. Glad to be able to follow an experienced guide who was attentive to everyone's need and skill level, and was interested in helping us explore and learn about Rome in a fun, active way.
