Overall this was a fun experience. We had 14 ATVs in our group with 4 guides. It was basically a giant line of ATVs going through the jungle (and on some main roads). The person in front of me was driving very slow and kept stopping frequently, so it was a little frustrating for me to not be able to go fast at times. We made a few stops for some photos (a waterfall/river and a view of the volcano) but there was no actual tour during the drive. There was a 10-minute stop in a replica of an indigenous village, where we got to taste a pineapple drink (it was good!) and hear an indigenous woman speak about life in her tribe. She spoke English and it was easy to understand her, and what she shared was interesting! They had a few craft items for sale (friendship bracelets for $10, wooden butterfly magnets for $10, some wooden masks, dreamcatchers, etc.) The seat of the ATV gets very hot, so I would definitely recommend long pants (my husband wore jeans, my kids and I wore leggings). The weather was cool enough that we weren’t overheated, and I was grateful for the barrier between the very very hot seat/exhaust and my skin. We wore keens/sneakers - there was no option to get in the river, as other reviews mentioned, because the water level was too high due to recent rain. Overall the best part of the ride was hearing my 15-year-old constantly yelling in my ear “this is so much fun!” So even though I might not have loved the slower pace of the ATVs, my kids loved it! And it was nice to have some one-on-one time with my teenager hugging me (even though she was probably only hugging me so she wouldn’t fall off the ATV). We decided not to do the extension to the volcano, and I don’t regret it. After the 2 hours of driving, we were pretty much ready to go. I would definitely recommend the photo package ($10 USD per person, not per ATV, so it was $40 for our family of 4.) The photos were sent via WhatsApp the evening of our trip, so about 8 hours after the tour started. The photos were great quality and they did a very good job with it.

Great experience for a family with teens. Guides were great and we always felt well taken care of. We were even able to see a sloth! Do the extended tour which takes you up to the volcano. It is much rougher terrain and then you get to hike up the lava rocks. Very well worth it!

Amazing experience with the ATV tours. The guide knew exactly the path to take. I traveled with my 9 year old and 6 year old and they both got on the Atv with my husband and I. It was a little scary with the kids but thankfully the guides were very attentive in making sure we were okay at all times.
