Experience an authentic geisha performance with an elegant Japanese dinner, hosted by an English interpreter at a traditional ryotei (Japanese restaurant).
The Geisha Experience with Japan Awaits is a 2-hour cultural dinner designed for a small group, recreating the traditional ozashiki (geisha gathering). Guests will enjoy performances by certified geisha (or geiko, as known in Tokyo) from renowned hanamachi districts such as Asakusa, Shinbashi, Mukoujima, or Omori Kaigan. The evening includes traditional dance, music, and meaningful conversations with geisha—facilitated by an English interpreter for a richer, more immersive experience.

It was a wise decision of us to book a Geisha-experience with kaiseki dinner right on our first evening in Tokyo. A better introduction to Japan is just unimaginable. The geishas performance was exciting and as a guest at our table she was very informative and entertaining. The dinner was delicious and the menu was utterly explained. Both the geishas performance as the kaiseki in the Sanshuya restaurant in Asakusa remained a gratefull memory through the journay and now back home. Ad & Lisanne, The Netherlands.

Wonderful evening with great food and authentic entertainment. The host Kumiko was extremely attentive and the two geisha - Yukimi and Nozomi - were charming. The music and dance were enchanting. The games were very fun! Highest recommendation.

Small group setting provided wonderful way to learn about Geisha traditions and ask questions. Duke kept evening comfortable and translated well; Yukimi shared her decades of experience and brought forth what can’t be learned from a book or website

This was a one of a kind adventure. We were so fortunate to book this tour. However, people need to be aware that they will have to climb stairs. It might keep someone handicapped, unable to take the tour.

What a unique experience! I first want to mention Kate who helped me change the date of our dinner when I accidentally booked a week earlier than we planned. Much appreciated! We were greeted by Mami, our host and interpreter and welcomed. We lucked out and were the only guests booked for this night. Mami reviewed some history and what to expect before our geisha Yukimi entered. Both Yukimi and Mami were wonderful. We asked questions, shared our stories and photos from where we lived. All the while the first couple of courses were served. Geisha Yukimi played 2 songs on the drum and performed 2 dances for us. We were encouraged to take photos and videos to share! After the performances we chatted more and then played games. We played rock, paper, scissors and the cup game. We do not drink alcohol and still had a blast taking the water shot when we lost to Geisha. We took photos and really enjoyed it up until the end. For those curious, it is appropriate to tip Geisha. A quick google search will share an average per person. I messaged Kate before to confirm it would be appropriate. If tipping, put the yen in a small envelope to hand to Geisha at the end of the night. Honestly, this experience was a highlight of our trip. It was so special to spend time with the Mami and Yukimi all while enjoying delicious traditional dishes. Definitely book if you’re looking for a cultural experience during your trip to Tokyo.

Instructions on how to get there were very thorough. The translator and the Geisha were very thoughtful and easy to communicate with. There was a lot of food - more than I could eat, all well made. It really was quite an adventure and we had a lot of fun. I would recommend this as an activity for a truly Japanese experience.
