A trip to Tamarindo is not complete without a day spent on the ocean, and there is no better way to enjoy the beauty and wonder of the Costa Rica sea than with Blue Dolphin Sailing. Blue Dolphin is the original and longest operating sailing tour company in Costa Rica, operating since 2004.
Blue Dolphin 1 is a 40’ open layout catamaran and Blue Dolphin 2 is a large, 50’ cruising style catamaran. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, a family and friends or a business group, the Blue Dolphin’s professional, licensed crew will make you feel welcome and part of our family. So come aboard, relax and enjoy the ride with us!
Tours during high season are likely to sell-out, so book early.

What To Expect
From Tamarindo we will head North up the coast for about 1 hour while we will enjoy delightful drinks, spectacular scenery and the possibility for spotting for sea life such as whales, dolphins, turtles and rays. Then we will moor in a cove near Playa Huevos for water activities. After the water activities we return to the boat to enjoy a delicious, light meal around 4 PM. Once the food service is complete we weigh anchor and head back to Tamarindo. All the while you’ll enjoy our good music, drinks, perhaps a little dancing, and likely an amazing sunset. We’ll deliver back to shore just after the sun sets.

5.00Highly recommend the Blue Dolphin Catamaran! Booking our trip was extremely simple, and very easy to find the meeting point the day of the sailing. Was quick and easy to load the boat and get sailing! The staff is fantastic and super friendly. Better service than I would expect with a group of people. Lots of snorkel gear and water toys for everyone when we anchored. And the food!!! Fantastic! Best banana bread I’ve ever eaten! We’ll definitely be booking again when we’re back!

5.00First Off 10/10 definitely recommend ! When I say amazing customer service it was that good, they went over and beyond for each guess. You will not be disappointed. They will make your excursions worth it. Food was great, drinks kept flowing, music was jamming, they kept us safe. My boyfriend couldn’t swim the owner himself made sure he got to experience the deep ocean for the first time. The workers were respectful, generous, & caring! Thank you so much for the experience Blue Dolphin may god continue blessing your business ! will come back soon and definitely book again.

5.00The adventure sail with the Blue Dolphin and its team was a super fun, enjoyable and spectacular. The crew actually ran after all the guests (17) to verify all is great, they served us with starting local liquor but just after pushed us with all kinds of drinks and snacks, with great music. The stop to have water sports activities was great and at the end lunch served with great local food and without any limit for food and drinks. On the way back they have asked each group for a special song they recommend and play it to all, after that we were on the way back seeing the magnificent Costa Rica famous sunset.

5.00Not gonna lie, we were tired and not too enthusiastic about going. Boy did that change!! We were met in the beach and brought out to the boat. The crew, Daniel, Pablo and a couple of other fellas made the trip fun. We were greeted on board with a local bevy and fresh fruit. We headed out in some rough waters but it was still fun. We didn’t get far when Daniel brought our attention to a whale breaching and making a huge splash! We stopped at a beach where the crew provided pool noodles, water carpets, a couple of kayaks along with beverages. Even with the rough water they made sure all were safe and got back to the boat for a great meal of fajitas, rice and fruit. Was a good time and a good value! Oh, did. Mention the sunset? was great to see it off the water and Daniel made sure everyone got some good pictures.

5.00Great experience on the Blue Dolphin Catamaran! Gustavo, Daniel, and the rest of the crew took great care of us. The food was great (maybe a bit more chicken next time as we ran out by the end of the line) and lots and lots of great adult beverages that never ran out. They helped keep a watchful eye on everyone while swimming in the private beach area to make sure we were all safe. On the way back, they helped us get memorable pics of the beautiful sunset. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great sunset booze cruise. PURA VIDA!!

2.00I booked this trip over a month in advance, and the day before was asked to move the trip from Sunday to Monday due to lack of people. I shifted my itinerary around to accommodate this, only to have it canceled an hour before the tour was supposed to start. At first the reason was due to weather, but I called the guide since there was no rain in the forecast and was told it was actually due to lack of the minimum number of people. It is frustrating to plan your vacation around these tours only to have them canceled last minute. It makes it very difficult to plan other activities. I wish that Randy would have informed us from the beginning that the tour would probably be cancelled instead of wasting two of our days with the hopes of doing this tour.
