What makes this activity special is that it’s much more than just a baking class – it’s a cultural and social experience. You won’t simply watch or follow instructions: from the very first step you’ll work with your own hands – mixing, kneading, rolling, and baking your own chimney cakes. Don’t worry if you’ve never baked before – the process is simple, easy to follow, and anyone can do it! Along the way, you’ll hear stories about the history and traditions of this 16th-century Hungarian dessert, once made only for festive occasions. We’ll share tips and secrets so you can easily bake it again at home for your family and friends. The atmosphere is warm and friendly – we chat, laugh, and enjoy the process together. At the end, you’ll enjoy two chimney cakes that you made yourself, choosing from four delicious flavors. It’s an authentic hands-on experience where food, culture, and fun come together – and a memory you’ll take home long after the sweet smell of your cake has faded.

The course location was easy to find, and we were even sent a photo of the venue in advance. All communication beforehand was pleasant and professional. The course itself was informative and enjoyed by all our colleagues. The lady who led the cooking class was very friendly and made a great effort. We were all able to make 2-3 Baumkuchen and take them home with us. Some background music might have been nice to make the atmosphere more relaxed.

Amazing experience! We had high expectations for our baking/pastry class since my husband is from Hungarian heritage and we wanted to learn how to make some family favorites (Dobos torte, Langos & apple strudel). It was the highlight of our trip! Marti was such fun and a great teacher!

The entire experience was a highlight of our trip. Marti was so organized and hospitable we loved our time with her learning about Hungary and experiencing foods and making some delicious desserts too! We’ve made the recipes at home and they work wonderfully.

Chef Marti is an inspiring chef and a fantastic teacher. We spent four hours with her making traditional Langos, Strudel and Dobos cake, and we feel we will be able to make these delicious treats at home with her recipes. The atmosphere was really fun and relaxed. Her English was clear and precise. You will have a great experience with her.

Marti was amazing a joy/pleasure to spend 4 hours with. Thank you, Marti. I did not have to mention the baking as both my old mum and I loved it!

A wonderful class about strudel making. Marti was an EXCELLENT teacher. Her passion for cooking/baking was extraordinary. We learned so much not only about the art of perfecting the pastry dough but also about the Hungarian culture and her heritage. A thoroughly enjoyable time from start to delicious finish.

If it was possible to leave 10 stars, I would definitely do so! The class was all that I hoped for and more! Marti is incredibly knowledgeable and kind with a great background in both baking and Hungarian food. She described the techniques so well, explained the process clearly, and could help me understand the various different ways a recipe could be used. She is a great storyteller as well and made me feel right at home. The food was wonderful and the next time I am in town I will certainly be booking another class! If you are at all interested in classic Hungarian baking or just a fun way to spend some time in Budapest and learn more about the food- this is the teacher for you!

Honestly this was the highlight of an amazing trip to Budapest. Marti made the whole thing fun for adults and kids. It was incredibly well organized, constantly entertaining, and delicious. She was able to weave in history, her family's experience, and great baking tips into an amazing experience my children (and I) will never forget.

I wanted to try some experience baking local cuisine and with Marti it was an amazing experience! Great lovely studio (really jealous) and good location. She was very tentative to explaining everything and making sure everyone had a good time. She explained a lot of history and answered questions we had. Next time I am in Budapest I will try one of her other courses definitely! The Strudel was amazing btw! Can’t wait to make it for my family when I go home :) Highly recommend her class !
