LET'S GET OUT OF THE TOURIST AREA where it's overpriced and crowded with tourists!
I’ll discuss not only Japanese food and drinks but also culture, traditions and history, which will be beneficial for the rest of your stay in Japan for sure!
This tour focuses on Ueno, which is not as crowded as Shibuya, Shinjuku and is less touristy. I'm going to take you to popular taverns and restaurants for ONLY LOCALS (NO TOURISTS!!) where the staff speaks NO ENGLISH.
We will visit several taverns where you will have sashimi, grilled fish and ramen, etc. You will also have the opportunity to try UNIQUE Japanese alcoholic drinks, so you'll be able to experience what Japanese taverns are like. I'll order signature dishes and feel free to ask me any questions.
At the end of tour, I will explain which train station you need to go to, depending on your destination.
Public transportation options are available nearby

Aki was the best tour guide throughout Japan tying both culture, food and personal stories together! Made our group feel like friends and helped us traverse through Japanese cuisine and local spots with alot of laughs.

Had a wonderful experience with Aki! Very knowledgeable and spoke wonderful English. Tried food I would have never ordered on my own. A few days later, I asked for a Wagyu Beef restaurant recommendation and he didn’t hesitate to help. Would recommend to anyone looking for a fun authentic night in Tokyo. Come hungry!!

Aki was a wonderful tour guide. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and spoke great English (no language barrier, promised and delivered). Tried food we wouldn't have normally ordered and learned about Japan's eating and drinking culture as well as the city in general. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a food tour.

Akira gave us one of the best experiences we had while travelling around Japan. We thought we had tasted and drank everything while we journeyed through Japan, but Akira introduced us to hidden venues with amazing food only the local residents would know of. Akira has wonderful knowledge of all things culinary and provided a fantastic insight into the local taverns of the Ueno district in Tokyo. The ramen was by far THE BEST ramen we have ever had eaten and I look forward to returning some day soon to experience again.

Absolutely great tour that I would recommend to anyone visiting Japan that wants to experience a night on the town! The meetup location was easy to find and there was plenty of exploring in the general area, if you are arrive early. The tour started with a wonderful welcome by Aki, who told us his story and how he started this tour, as well as learning a traditional Japanese cheers. After that the walking tour began and Aki told us some fun facts about sites that we passed and Japanese culture. The locations felt truly authentic to Japan and had absolutely amazing food. The food was a nice variety of sushi, grilled fish, yakitori, and ramen. Each location had a speciality drink that varied. To me, the best part was our host, Aki. Aki did an amazing job of creating a welcoming environment that created a fun time for the entire group (we had 8 people in our group on a Tuesday night).

Make sure that you arrive hungry! Aki did a great job of showing our small group around genuinely local eating and drinking places. We ate great food and drinks, with very generous servings of both. A really good way to orientate yourself to eating out in a new place, with some local history and colour added in to ease the way. Highly recommend!

Just a really fun way to get an introduction to Japanese eating and drinking like a local. Japan's bar and restaurants can be intimidating but Aki really did a wonderful job explaining and guiding us through with often very thoughtful insights into Japanese culture . I feel much more confident to go and eat and drink on my own after this tour.

Second time taking this food tour and there will definitely be a third! It was just as fun and informative as I remember it. And the food was incredible of course. This is a must do activity when you're in Tokyo. So much drinks, so much food, so much fun.
