On board a luxury coach, you will drive to southeast and reach Vaux le Vicomte ( approx,35-miles (55-km))
Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte
Its star attraction is the Vaux le Vicomte Castle – the impressive Baroque chateau that allegedly inspired the Palace of Versailles – so hop off your coach and head inside for your audio-guided tour. When you arrive, you are free to explore independently using your provided audio guide. See elaborate interiors and vaulted cellars, and learn about the man behind this massive home, Nicholas Fouquet, who was King Louis XIV’s minister of finance. After Fouquet commissioned Vaux le Vicomte to be designed by a top architect, the king felt upstaged and threw the minister in jail. When you’re finished inside, walk outside to discover the castle’s 99 acres (40 hectares) of grounds made up of fountains, flowerbeds and sprawling lawns. If you’re hungry, grab some lunch from the onsite café (own expense) before returning to the coach.

Unfortunately this fell a little short of our expectations. Whilst it was professionally organised there is no commentary from the bus driver. He pulls the bus up somewhere near the entrance to the palace / chateau and didn’t even tell us the direction to go to get in. This left everyone a little confused. Fontainebleau and Villa Vicomte were enjoyable though.

A no hassle trip. It is self guided but the coach ride was relaxing and they are timely and give you plenty of time to explore and eat. The Chateau Fontainebleau was not crowded and really let you see so much more of chateau life. The Vaux le Vicomte Chateau was also amazing although smaller.

The bus’s air conditioner wasn’t working; despite the driver’s claims, the fan was only circulating very hot, room-temperature air.

Great day, easy to find meeting point and the staff were extremely efficient ensuring we all had tickets and passes. Time allowed at each location was perfect. Coach driver was very courteous and professional.

Well organized. We got the vouchers at the meeting point. Two people were late for departure from the first castle. The bus driver politely waited over 15 minutes before leaving without them and then added 30 minutes at the end to compensate the group for the inconvenience. Bus was very clean. Driver was very professional.
