What To Expect
Meiji Jingu Shrine
Meiji Jingu Shrine is one of Tokyo's most iconic and significant Shinto shrines, located in Harajuku. We'll walk together to the main building of Meiji Jingu Shrine while learning about the culture and history. We'll also learn about some Japanese traditional rituals.
Takeshita Street
Following the Meiji Jingu Shrine we will head to Harajuku, taking the famous & colorful Takeshita Street. Takeshita Street is a bustling and iconic shopping street located in the Harajuku district of Tokyo and tons of shopping & food opportunities. (Find rainbow cotton candy or poo ice cream)

5.00On December 4th, I found myself solo in Tokyo. I worked with my travel agent to book a 4-hour walking tour with Jero from Shiny Tours. Jero met me at my hotel, which was very convenient since I did not know anything about the city. From the moment we met, he made me feel comfortable, welcome, and completely safe exploring the city as a woman traveling alone. Jero is excellent at what he does. He was extremely knowledgeable, warm, and funny. He explained the history of the city. We covered a lot of ground including using the Tokyo train system which was an experience. We visited the Meji Shrine, Takeshita Street, Harajuku rooftops, Omotesando, Cat Street, Miyashita Park, Shibuya Crossing (with Hachiko and the Scramble Square Tower) and then continued to Shinjuku, Gold Gai, Kabukicho (where I saw Godzilla), Kabukicho Tower, and Omoide Yokocho. For four hours, we covered a lot of ground. If you are looking for a guide who is personable, professional and loves to share his city with visitors, I highly recommend Jero.

5.0010 out of 10, expert tour guide!!!! So glad we booked with Jero. He showed us a good chunk of Tokyo and all it has to offer with a smile and levity. What made this experience with Jero great was the little tips and tricks he showed us during the tour. Things only someone with inside local knowledge would know, I don't want to give it away. Seeing the temples and shines, getting expert instruction on what to do if we get a bad fortune, and little niceties that were unexpected and included as part of the tour made this an awesome and authentic experience. Truly worth a booking. Also, Jero deserves extra credit for helping two newbies get their SUICA cards and showing us the tricks to expert Tokyo subway navigators in 30 minutes.

5.00We booked this tour last minute so we could have a soft landing when we got into the city and an overview intro into Tokyo life. Saw the great reviews and Jero did not disappoint. He worked with us on how to tailor the itinerary and was super accommodating. 10 out of 10 recommended! He was hilarious and a wealth of knowledge. 5.00Our family first visit to Tokyo and having Jero show us around made it very special for the kids and us. His laid back approach and insight into the different areas is not something you can learn on any other tour. His tours are created with kids in mind. We didn’t have to worry about missing anything. We had such a great first day that we booked a second day with him.

5.00Wonderfully comprehensive tour with tons of valuable info. Jero is one of the best tour guides I’ve ever had (and I’ve had many!) We were able to see so much during our time with him. He took pictures and videos along the way and then air dropped them to my phone. We have already scheduled a second tour and are looking forward to it! I definitely recommend.
