Fondation Claude Monet
Begin your day by boarding your comfortable, air-conditioned private bus in central Paris. Once inside, you’ll meet your tour co-ordinator, a local expert who’ll accompany you throughout your trip to provide you with insights and stories about the sites you’ll visit. Your first stop is the Fondation Claude Monet in the village of Giverny. After a brief but fact-packed orientation tour, you’ll be free to explore the Impressionist master’s estate at your leisure using a convenient self-guided audio app. The house has been restored to how it was when Monet himself lived and worked there, and many features of the estate are familiar from his great works – like the ponds carpeted in luscious water lilies.
Palace of Versailles
Then it’s a short bus ride from Giverny to Versailles, where an official palace guide will escort you past the line, directly into the Sun King’s opulent seat of power. With over 700 rooms and 2,000 acres of gardens, Versailles is magnificent inside and out. You’ll see highlights like the Hall of Mirrors and Salon of Abundance, fountains and secret garden groves, and an art collection to rival the finest museums. In keeping with the surroundings, the royals and courtiers who populated Versailles at its height were larger than life; your guide will share some of the wildest moments of the palace’s history.

Great guides and very good tour. Only thing for me was that those two places in one day was a lot. Versailles especially need the energy to see both the palace and garden.

Our guide didn’t go through any safety instructions, the tour itinerary, what to expect or how long to get to the destinations. He made us use our own internet (no wifi on board) to download a powerpoint presentation he created because he doesn’t like people sleeping on his tours. He rambled for a bit and didn’t believe us when we said we couldn’t hear him. He looked at me in disbelief when I asked if we should have lunch prior to departing to Versaille at 12.30pm. He said no, but if I was hungry I could have “breakfast”. Surprise - at Versailles, he handed us over to another tour guide (he left) who immediately took us on a 1.5hr guided tour before we got some free time at 4pm. Versailles was uncomfortably crowded and it was hard to appreciate the history, but our tour guide was lovely. However she told us the wrong time to meet up, and told us we could go back to Paris by train on our own, resulting in 4 passengers nearly getting left behind. The other passengers insisted we stay to wait; the lady in charge had already told the bus driver to leave! No tour guides were on the bus with us on our trip back to Paris. In conclusion, first tour guide was really bad. Eat lunch before going to Versailles. Always come back to the bus earlier than told. This tour was not enjoyable.

This was an outstanding tour! We had such a lovely day. The tour guide for Giverney was so knowledgeable and informative and funny! He gave the site information mostly on the bus and then we were able to roam freely as we wished at Monet’s house, gardens and the village. It was a lovely morning. At Versailles, the tour guide Bo went a little fast at the beginning but she had great knowledge of the parts of the palace we got to see. We then got to end our time wandering in the gardens or palace, whichever we liked. These tours were very well done and the bus ride was comfortable and cool.
