Fondation Claude Monet

Begin your day by boarding your comfortable, air-conditioned private bus in central Paris. Once inside, you’ll meet your tour co-ordinator, a local expert who’ll accompany you throughout your trip to provide you with insights and stories about the sites you’ll visit. Your first stop is the Fondation Claude Monet in the village of Giverny. After a brief but fact-packed orientation tour, you’ll be free to explore the Impressionist master’s estate at your leisure using a convenient self-guided audio app. The house has been restored to how it was when Monet himself lived and worked there, and many features of the estate are familiar from his great works – like the ponds carpeted in luscious water lilies.

We actually weren’t able to be attend the tour. The tour company “City Wonders” pickup location name/ address has two places in Paris with the exact address. We went to the wrong one. We were there more than 15 minutes early, when we didn’t see anyone arriving to pick us up, we reached out to the tour company and informed them of the mistake, and they were so rude and didn’t care. We understand that we wouldn’t been 23 minutes late due to the mistake, but the way the handled the situation with such little empathy and care was what upset us the most. They did r even send us a confirmation message the day before or nothing. They didn’t even reach out as to why we were not at the pickup location . That showed us that they only cared about money. We asked for a refund and did not receive, we should’ve received at least a partial refund. We understand not receiving a refund for the entry tickets, but for the rest we should’ve received something. I use Viator all the time to travel, and I was truly disgusted how this situation was handled.

The overall experience was nice; the tour is divided in two, with two very different guides - this is not inexpensive, I expected a bit more from the second half - I’d do a bit more research before recommending the tour, this may just be the way it is: GIVERNY; amazing! Lawrence was incredibly thorough, funny and full of fun facts to share. His genuine passion for the location was palpable. On arrival we was gracious said good-bye to each in the large group and transferred us to the next guide. VERSAILLES; beautiful! An overwhelming location filled with incredible history. Fredrick, I believe was his name, was nice but very rushed, most of the tour was a listen, ‘walk-by and catch-up’ type of feel. He explained we were on our own for the last 2-hours at the gardens and asked we would not miss the bus departure. Never saw him again. A nice young lady took a quick headcount on the bus at 6pm, got off the bus and off we went to Paris. On arrival, we got off and that was the end of the tour - no rep from the company onsite.

Our trip to Monet and Versailles was wonderful. The house was as I expected it to be but the gardens are unbelievable. Versailles is a must...so much to see and appreciate history. I recommend both places to everyone.
