It came into existence, developed and diversified over a thousand years ago in the Red River Delta. Thanks to unique performances on the water, this puppetry art is famous and highly appreciated all over the world. In early days, water puppetry showed the daily life of villagers such as farming, fishing, romance and children playing. Now, the topics of the plays are also picked from ancient legends, myths and historic stages.

4.00We really enjoyed this experience, the puppeteers were so clever and it was great to see them appear at the end of the show. We found the audio guide helpful to understand some of the stories. The wooden puppets were adorable. A very enjoyable hour in Hanoi.

5.00If you are in Hanoi do not miss this show. 50 minutes well spent. I enjoyed it a lot. Great music, great show!
Overrated for sure...but can spend 1 hour if you have to spare

3.00This is most certainly over rated, what complicates this further is that there is absolutely no prelude/explanation provided in English so while the entire show is in Vietnamese (understandably) its purely upto your creative imagination to figure out what scene is being depicted. However if you have never seen a puppet show ever in your life and you have a hour and some extra cash to spare then it is probably something you should consider to visit.
