Higashi Hongan-ji Temple
Higashi Hongan-ji is a major Jodo Shinshu Buddhist temple located in central Kyoto, established in 1602. Its vast grounds and impressive main hall attract many visitors. The main hall, called the Goeido, is one of the largest wooden structures in Japan — truly a sight to behold.
Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine
Fushimi Inari Shrine is the head shrine of over 30,000 Inari shrines across Japan, located in southern Kyoto. It’s famous for the thousands of bright red torii gates forming a tunnel along the mountain trails. My wife, another couple, and I had a fun and informative bike tour with Yuhey as our guide. His English was very good and he was knowledgeable about the temple and shrine we visited. He also found us a perfect little spot for an afternoon snack. He was super friendly and gave us many helpful recommendations. It was a great way to start our four day visit to Kyoto.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. There is so much to see in Kyoto, and this was a great way to get around the city. Yuhey was incredibly knowledgeable of the history and culture - but more than that he was fun and super cool and had a great way relating to my teenage son . He brought the city's history alive and made temple hopping enjoyable for a teenager. It doesn't get better than that ! Thanks Yuhey you were great!

Kiyoto and Kento were able to tailor the bike ride to locations we had not visited yet and to locations that were within the neighborhood giving us a better appreciation of life in Japan.

Absolutely fantastic. I was not expecting it to be so good. Here's how it went... - Approachable: The guide and her trainee met us at the bike shop, adjusted the bikes for us and told us how they worked (super easy to use electric bike) - Affordable: We had a 5 hour trip, and was taken to many temples and beautiful sites that were free to enter, we had several free drinks and snacks from local stores too - Atmosphere: The guide was very knowledgeable and had great English! We had a laugh, and talked about all sorts of things. The trainee that came along knew a lot about history and was good company. It felt like a bike ride with friends.

We had a great time cycling around Kyoto. E-bike was perfect - we were able to cover more ground than we would have walking and less exhausting than a regular bike. The tour was customizable: we visited several shrines and temples, got some food in a local area, and enjoyed a quiet ride by the greenway and in the hills despite the rain. Thanks Yuta!
